Telegraph was saying they are aiming for a million a week this week, then millions per week in Jan, that’s all dependant on the Oxford vaccine and mass vac centers opening

500k a day I reckon in Jan, i’d read a few weeks ago million per day but doesn’t seem reasonable surely
500k a day will be some going - that equates to 15 million in January alone, and with those most at risk being at the front of the queue that should see the death numbers plummet come sometime in February.

yea they need doing twice though 3 weeks for Pfizer and I think I read 4 for the Oxford Vaccine

Hopefully mate, feel like we had a grip of it up here and were on home stretch waiting for vaccine, now Tier 4 feels inevitable at some point if they are right on this new strain

please.

if we have the vaccines and in the middle of a deadly pandemic these vac centres should be open 24 hours a day 7 days a week to administer all available vaccines we have as quickly as possible.

we should be planning mass centres , shut schools, the nightingale centres for these to be given.

if we can set up mass testing centres quickly, we should have even more vigour with the vaccines

Where was this mate? Only reason I’m asking is that I heard weeks ago of exactly the same thing happening up here. Bloke who I work with said one of his neighbours - elderly with breathing issues - tends to have a bit of a turn each winter that requires hospital admittance. Anyway, it happened the other week and they stuck him on a Covid ward without even testing him for it. He then caught Covid and passed away. His wife got a phone call a couple of days later from a doctor at the hospital apologising for what they’d done.

Yeah, I can’t see the number of vaccinations increasing until after the Christmas break. A million a week by the end of Jan will be fantastic if we can achieve that

And if we can't achieve it (which we won't) the government will probably still claim some kind of victory by saying "we're not actually vaccinating a million people a week, but we have the capacity to vaccinate a million people a week. And that's what REALLY counts".

Hancock said this morning on TV (Andrew Marr then Sophie Ridge) that they expect half a million will have been vaccinated by end of today.

It was 350,000 by 8 am yesterday.

When asked about if the Oxford vaccine would be approved soon he on both programmes went into a smile that made me think he knows it has more or less already.

He did though make clear the restrictions may have to stay in place until the most vulnerable are all immunised which with Oxford on stream may mean up to end of February/early March I think.

I lodge with a couple in rural mid Wales which is in a high risk area.

Last night, one of there daughters -and partner- arrived from London and are staying till the New Year.

The couple say it is OK as it's before the new lockdown rules came in. I explain that rules were already in place saying they should not be here. They are not bothered one bit. Apparently, it's there Daughters home anyway?

What is the point of bothering any more?

Looks though like much of the world is going to impose a stricter travel ban on people arriving in their country from the UK or travelling to here from as early as today whilst we will just advise people in the South East not to infect the rest of the UK with the new strain.

I recall an old TV ad that said - Let the train take the strain,

Unfortunately you will be hearing a lot about exactly that soon, Though not as the ad intended.

I think the extension of Furlough until the end of April gives a bit of an indication of how long it will take. Personally I think it will take longer. It is not as easy process as many of the most vulnerable are immobile.

The new lockdown came into effect at midnight so no rules broken, if anything it will be a decision to make whether to go back or not that will need considering
