100% agree
The whiny cunts have spent ages Since lockdown ended with the ‘rule of 6’ out doing whatever They like, while the north had tough restrictions.
Now they can’t have Christmas dinner with other families It’s the end of the world.
Nobody is whining so cut that shit out

Mates grandad has died of Covid, paramedics turned up to his house couple weeks ago because he was having trouble breathing, diagnosed him with Covid WITHOUT a test and stuck him in a Covid ward straight away where he contracted it. Family trying to sue the hospital
If you have symptoms you go in the covid ward , i did , it is standard practice , he might well have had it already

I post the updates on patients and ventilated patients in London in here every day and these have been accelerating for about two weeks now.

Over the last 48 hours the number on ventilators with Covid rose from 291 to 311 - by far the most in any region. The North West - which less than a month ago had the most at around 260 when London then was around where the NW is now - has been slowly falling but has flattened out a bit this week and has been on 159 for three days.

Much the same has happened with patients. The NW was up there with the most over its peak of the first wave just above 3000. London was still in 3 figures (less than 1000). Since then the NW has fallen below most other regions but has in the past week plateaued in the 2200s. That is still 700 or so down from the peak level of the first wave in April.

Week to week NW is down 23 patients at 2255 and 3 ventilators at 159.

London is up 695 patients at 2726 and up 50 ventilators at 311.

Looks like countries are suspending flights/travel from the UK on the back of this.
Belgium and Netherlands so far. That’s bound to increase because when one country does it, they all tend to follow.

My boss has booked a week’s holiday in Dubai, leaving on Jan 5th. His previous one - booked for November - got cancelled, and I think his wife was on his case to get it re-booked ASAP. I thought it was too risky for him to go and personally would’ve left it a few months. I think he felt he was on relatively safe ground as there are few restrictions over in Dubai but this new strain will surely throw a potential curveball into his plans as no country is going to want this new variant imported in to them.

Wales data first up today:

It is showing a very disturbing increase in deaths for a Sunday (usually low everywhere as weekend reporting).

There was no data last Sunday as they had those major issues that led to the 11,000 cases added in one go.

But the previous two weeks there were 16 deaths and 1004 cases and 14 deaths and 1916 cases.

Today Wales reports 69 deaths and 2334 cases.

Not sure I recall the last time it was that high on a Sunday if ever.

In fact 69 would be a rare high number even in mid week.

The last four days have had 29, 38, 31 and 35 deaths in Wales so today is double.

This is going to be a terrible winter it seems.

Irrespective, they will still potentially be bringing the virus with them.

There is nothing fair about that.

Northerners or not they should not be travelling and spreading the disease to other parts of the country
That's why we're fucked because everyone thinks about themselves and bollocks to everyone else.

Shouldn't mattter, you don't cross tiers unless necessary.

Were they all coming up originally? Some maybe but probably not all.

Did their repatives up north all piss off to london when it went into tier 2?

Yeah finding out you cannot see relatives at christmas is shite, but what happened last night was highly irresponsible by many people who were happy to stay south when they had lesser restrictions than up here.

They are evacuating a highly contagious area, particularly with this new virilant variant. Inevitable many on those trains will be infected.

to be clear the point was to be fair to southerners being talked about in a negative light, many of those making the exodus are likely to be those who come from the north/other areas.

it wasn’t intended to be some form of defence that they originate from up north

Extra police officers are being deployed at railway stations to stop people from making non-essential Tier 4 journeys after passengers crowded onto trains in London to escape the tightening of COVID-19 restrictions.

Transport secretary Grant Shapps announced on Sunday that British Transport Police would have an increased presence following Saturday night's chaotic scenes

Not gonna lie, last few days have tanked my optimism. Was hoping this new variant stuff was being exaggerated but it does seem to be legit unfortunately.

The seven day rolling average of cases in each region shows for the first time in a while every region is increasing in England.

Here are the 9 regions with their Weekly Pop Score - which as with the ones I post for GM is cases over the past 7 days per 100,000 population. The LOWER the number the better - so the further down this list you are the better you are doing.

Alongside is the % change - they are ALL going up so have a positive number right now this week.

1 LONDON 361 - Up 80%

2 EAST 264 - Up 75%

3 SOUTH EAST 264 - Up 56%

4 EAST MIDLANDS 192 - Up15%

5 WEST MIDLANDS 188 - Up 15%

6 NORTH EAST 166 - Up 7%

7 YORKSHIRE & HUMBER 154 - Up 0.3%

8 NORTH WEST 148 - Up 9%

9 SOUTH WEST 99 - Up 25%

For context within Greater Manchester Stockport is 108 on these measures and has risen by 0% Oldham and Rochdale are at 186 - the highest numbers in GM - Oldham has risen about 4% and Rochdale fallen about 8%.

So GM is standing still on average. Because the modest NW regional rise is also occurring elsewhere - including on Merseyside where Liverpool has been climbing for a few days and for the last two days has been worse than Manchester for the first time in some weeks.

Nicola Sturgeon has doubled police patrols on the road borders with England to try to enforce her ban on people crossing to or from England into Scotland to try to keep out the new virus strain.

Presumably she has not forgotten the trains.

The way this is going England might be in quarantine by 2021.

Not funny, people are unable to see anyone at Christmas, it’s all ruined for them and some idiot makes that meme.

Worse TV show I’ve ever seen, now I’ve got a new reason to hate it. It’s just immature kids trying to be funny and people watch it for some reason.

If you were in tier 4, would you find this funny if someone else posted it?.

And Italy now.

Hancock said this morning on TV (Andrew Marr then Sophie Ridge) that they expect half a million will have been vaccinated by end of today.
It was 350,000 by 8 am yesterday.
When asked about if the Oxford vaccine would be approved soon he on both programmes went into a smile that made me think he knows it has more or less already.
He did though make clear the restrictions may have to stay in place until the most vulnerable are all immunised which with Oxford on stream may mean up to end of February/early March I think.
What other Government plays PR games like this regarding a major announcement of a vaccine approval?
In the States for example the public were kept informed at all stages of the approval process for the Pfizer Vaccine and the announcement of the second Moderna vaccine was also kept quite low key.
Only here do we have an advance leak to a Tory friendly newspaper, then a period of silence which leaves everyone guessing followed by a massive flag waving announcement which is frankly embarrasing.
We have every reason to be proud of the AZ Oxford vaccine (which could ultimately be the most effective globally) but confident countries don't behave in this needy way.

Not sure, she said she’s just got a job to start after New Year and it’s going to be mass vaccination at the stadium.

Reading between the lines it sounds like it’s a completely new operation and a big one at that.

Her job is to just remove the used vaccination kits and replace them x amount of times per day for one administer, who’s qualified.

they are using the concourse on the Asda side from early January.
Went to play tennis at the tennis centre next to the Etihad earlier. Looks like they're setting up the vaccination centre there rather than at the stadium itself, according to the woman who works there at least. They've taken over most of the centre with a view to starting vaccinations at the beginning of January.
