We are all in this together, you're right.
It hasn't always been like that though. I'm going to digress a little here....do you remember when southern fans used to show wads of money to fans in the North in the early 80s?
If we have a "chip on our shoulder" then it's merited...and some southerners put it there.
And Burnham was right IMO. He worked in London for many years and saw that whole shitshow a couple of months ago for what it was....a blatant slap on the wrist for being "uppity northerners "
I understand your point , not sure it is best to take the piss out of each other on here just because of where we live

Trains continue to operate on the Paris route for the time being.

However, Eurostar services between Belgium and Britain have been cancelled from Monday (21 December), following the Belgian government's announcement that borders with the UK will close at midnight on Sunday.

No trains will run between London, Brussels and Amsterdam.

The news for GM today is not so good from the data. Almost everywhere up. Cases at 732 only been higher once in past week. And this is a larger chunk of the NW total than recent days too. So the % of the NW total shared by GM boroughs has increased for the third day - up from a low of 33% to 38%.

Not a major problem right now as these numbers do fluctuate but this will be a little concerning if the pattern continues.

The South were happy to blame us for restrictions in the autumn, whilst we got shit deals but as soon as London and the Tory's beloved heartlands were fucked we were straight into lockdown on a better deal.

Now the tables turned so they can have the shit thrown back.

Who blamed the North for the restrictions?

Now the tables have turned?

@kaz7 here's one with a bag of spuds on his shoulders. Could feed the whole street with chips ;)

A little detail starts to emerge. NERVTAG (science committee minutes) have been published.

Estimated increase in R 0.39-0.93. By comparison, closing all schools is estimated to reduce R by 0.4. I'm still sceptical it's really that bad, R estimates for this are very difficult, but that's really just personal speculation.

Terrible case numbers today too, 35,000

It's doubling every 6 days under tier 3. That's ~100x increase by end Jan. I think we're now into "full national lock down until vulnerable are vaccinated" territory, unless those estimates are significantly out.

Doubtless that won't be announced until Johnson has repeatedly promised not to, insulted anyone who suggests it and then waited until the absolute last moment.

Those initial figures from NERVTAG are very sobering. I am surprised we are not in total lockdown already. We really need a national effort now and a war cabinet of all political parties to ramp up the vaccinations. Vaccines are the only way out of this.

This seemed unthinkable a month ago, now it seems inevitable.

Feel like reality is going to hit home over the next 10 days.
Got to be another National lockdown coming now I think and a longer one at that. Only a matter of time before this spreads back up North with everyone escaping London.

Ha, indeed , i dont recall southerners on here blaming or laughing at anyone

I am a northerner down south but I have not heard anything of the sort. Probably a couple of idiots on Twitter and it has been turned into (some people haver active imaginations) a representative view of a city with a population of 9,000,000.
