Truth is which ever way you cut it tonight and for at least the next 48 hours nothing and no-one is going from here to the EU by plane or via Dover or the chunnel - we have managed to get ourselves trapped on our own island win almost half our export trade stopped. Meanwhile the EU 27 trade among themselves and the rest of the world because there are two sides to any border. I do wonder when the penny will drop.

Relentlessly pursuing Brexit in the current climate is perhaps the single most idiotic thing this Government has done. Everyone, bar the most extremist Leavers, would’ve accepted a delay in the circumstances. It’s an insane act of national self-harm right now.

Unfortunately, Johnson’s taken quite a few down the rabbit hole with him, in normal times it should be a resigning matter, let alone during a pandemic.

Incredibly, he still retains a relative amount of support. Granted, 34% isn’t exactly a ringing endorsement but it’s still alarming that 1 in 3 adults actually think he’s doing well. Fucking hell.

38% of British people thought Diana's death was not accidental in a You Gov poll

I’ve felt relatively positive recently with the vaccine news and a deal seemingly on the horizon.

Today I’ve felt like shit, it’s absolutely depressing.

Not only is this new strain going to absolutely screw us for at least 2-3 months, but the economic fallout of further lockdowns and then a no deal Brexit are going to be awful for us as a country.

For the first time in months I’m genuinely a little scared.

Yes, things are looking pretty bleak right now. Hopefully common sense will prevail, but the last four years will tell you that’s certainly not a given.

I keep telling myself things can quickly change and when it looked bleak in autumn, we suddenly had the vaccine.

Today is the worst news in a long time though with Brexit and Covid.

It’s obvious these people aren’t fit to govern.

Yeah he’s ran the trump playbook and got similar results with a lot of people having blindness to the means as long as they get the ends they want.

Cobra meeting in the morning - mutant new strain out of control ( copyright Matt Hancock) in the South East - how does Johnson stand up before the country at tea time and tell the country that T4 area's ( possibly T3 ) are now on total shut down until probably Easter plus confirms the borders we control have been closed ( by someone else ) for at least 2 days whilst asking people not to panic buy ( which they will have been doing all day ) and that there will be no FTA deal with the EU and possibly expect to retain his post?

wait until they go into empty shops in the next 2 days. That hasn't happened in the USA and Trumps support that still backs him aren't on welfare. Christmas ruined because there is next to nowt on the shop shelves and no timeline for when there will be will sharpen a lot of minds

Totally disagree 4 years this has been going on for, how long do we have to delay it? 3months 6 months? A year? It says a lot that even in times like this we have politicians and bureaucrats playing silly buggers like 3 year olds. At any time Barnier Frost or the politicians could sort this shit out. They ain’t busy running around with a vaccine in their hand.

I don’t believe closing freight is totally Covid related like I don’t believe fish is a major concern with Bojo. They are appallingly using this crisis and red lines to play the game. One thing I’m sure of I want shut of these people ASAP. And that includes both sides. Just sign a bloody deal or get the fuck out. Overpaid arseholes.

Your agenda is acceptable...................................however not to the Johnson cabal. Its all about retaining power and personal enrichment and a crisis is a great way of covering your crooked deeds - two crises is a fucking godsend.

Thought you didn’t want a deal.
Have you gone off champagne?

It should have been sorted before, of course, but it wasn’t so little point in dwelling on that. It’s akin to me saying Brexit shouldn’t even have happened in the first place. It’s irrelevant. Can only deal in the here and now. And I don’t think anyone can sensibly claim that a no deal outcome in ten days time is good for the vast majority of people.

So how long you delaying it for? As a remainer and no doubt concerned about the economic situation of Brexit and the virus give me a good time. How long did austerity take? So let’s put it back what a year? But post virus(fingers crossed) is it really a good time, country needs to get back on its feet, large debt high unemployment. 2 years? 5 years? If you think it’s going to be bad then why delay it?

I think a 12 month delay would probably be pragmatic and sensible in the circumstances.
