Insofar as he cares ( probably very little), I have a feeling that the slight foxes paw on there being no non tariff barriers in the deal might come back to haunt him as it something that can be replayed time and time again to show a leader who either doesn't understand basic stuff or is deliberately misleading or both.

BloJo quoting figures for trade under the deal as though it's new business.
In fact it's the existing level of business we already have with the EU ( which is actually forecast to reduce under this new deal).
Yet another misleading statement.

What has become clear in recent years is that most people who support him simply don't care if it's a lie, as long as it's something they want to hear and want to believe.

In turn, they will deny the reality when the negative consequences of their support begin to manifest. Problems will simply not exist. We've seen that already this week when we've been told that Project Stack worked in Kent and there are only 170 lorries in the queue, proving our readiness. Meanwhile there are actually still thousands of extra vehicles in the streets.

Where problems are unavoidable, it will never be their responsibility. Again and again it will be the fault of the Other: immigrants; snowflake liberal remainers; the EU; etc. Again we've seen that this week with Macron being labelled irresponsible and a trouble causer for blocking the lorry drivers. Can you imagine the reaction from these same people if a the situation were reversed? They'd be calling for the Navy to sink the ferries.

Any marginal positives will be amplified to the heavens, be they real or imagined (such as our accelerated vaccine approval, already falsely attributed to Brexit)

I'm pleased we have a deal and some stability. I doubt we're done with the swing rightwards in this country due to the above. My expectation is we're heading towards a society that's shaped more like prewar or Victorian era Britain.

Having skimmed through the details briefly johnson has just agreed Theresa May original deals he bashed to get power. And convinced the brexiteers whp slaged her off he is a genious

Greatest rock n roll swindle comes to mind.

If anything he is the greatest grifter this country has ever know
Unfortunately exactly the wrong type of leader the country needed during the pandemic.

Must try harder - probably written a month ago and waiting to go to press with the nice authoritative picture of Kier pasted in for no actual reason. It's fair enough - journalists are as entitled to a Xmas break as the rest of us.

Unfortunately your Panglossian statement bears little relation to reality.

Yeah, Nicola is definitely not going to squeeze every last drop of nationalist grievance that she can out of a negative move made against Scotland by English politicians.

One or two didn’t think he would and would abstain.

He sounds like a colossal improvement compared to Johnson and Corbyn.
Unlike them, he has actually had a proper job previously in his life, of course he'd be an improvement. Not a very high bar to set

Thankfully he is putting the country first, this deal is better than no deal. It may be deficient in some areas, but the alternative is worse. It’s a no brainer in my opinion.
