I would guess than 15 million people in this country must have had it by now??

32, 725 cases

570 all settings deaths just announced for today.

Tests will be very low and both numbers are less than they will be as they have no cases or deaths data included from either N Ireland or Wales who are not reporting it today.

England only cases today were 31, 560 - down from 35, 561 yesterday. It was 24. 452 last Friday.

We may not get the number of tests done until Tuesday as they always do not get reported on Saturday and Sunday.

And testing is almost certain to be low not least because of Christmas but also the problems caused by the Lighthouse lab testing centre where staff have gone down with Covid.

This is proper somber reading on Christmas Day. Who’d have thought this is March. In reality are we still only half way through it?

All do yourselves a favour, give up on this thread for a day and go go enjoy what is left of it with your loved ones. I am only on here as I am stuck in work.
Good times are around the corner, there are just a few more bumps in the road we have to deal with. They can wait till tomorrow though.

Regional numbers:

LONDON 9790 - down from 10, 713

EAST 4931 - down from 6078

SOUTH EAST 6324 - down from 6910

MIDLANDS 2495 - UP from 2156. The most infected outside of the south ahead of all the northerm regions.

NORTH EAST 944 - down from 1137

YORKSHIRE 1420 - down from 1969

And NORTH WEST 2218 - down big from 2812 - stopping the run of daily increases.

I promised I would post what data we had and nothing else yesterday. So at least it was there if anyone wanted to see it. But I will not be engaging in discussion over Christmas.

I had a Zoom Christmas day - safe distance but you still get to see everybody.

Happily they are all very sensible about social distancing - possibly as we have had direct experience of what it can do in the family over the past nine months.

It might take that kick up the backside for a lot of people to wake up unfortunately. Sadly the way things are going everyone will know someone soon.

Let us hope we really are on the home straight.

GM scoreboard today : Total 846 - down from 943. But that was a smaller chunk of the NW fall than of late so the % of the NW total rose steeply to 38%. Highest in nearly two weeks.

Less good day for Wigan - nearly level with Manchester. Stockport up again. But most down. The big news only 61 separating top to bottom.

Oh and yet again Manchester and Liverpool nearly identical numbers and Manchester the lowest Pop Score rise in GM and less than Liverpool.

Wirral also had more cases than anyone in GM today so clearly a worse day on Merseyside than in GM. As has been true for many days recently.

Yet Merseyside is in tier 2.

Watch areas for readers:

Cheshire East Cases 143 cases -up from 132. Total cases 11, 125. Pop score up 37 to 2896. Weekly Pop up from 228 to 236 - almost identical to Rochdale and Salford and only Bury in GM higher.

KENT:

Dartford 178 cases - up from 140. Total cases 4719. Pop score up 158 to 4191. Biggest rise yet. Weekly Pop up from 918 to 951.

Medway 343 cases - down from 400. Total cases 14, 258. Pop score up 124 to 5119. Weekly Pop stays at1084

Swansea cannot be updated as Wales are not publishing data today.

Ultimately it was the right choice. I had an hour or so of misery this afternoon when it really sunk in that I wasn't at my mum and dad's for the first time in my life at Christmas.

what hurts is how many familys are having masssive get together’s right now, all having a jolly up. Whilst we feel like miserable bastards doing what is right.
Ever rising death toll and further lockdown all because some ‘had’ to be with their family’s today.

Practically everyone I know are with their family’s. I declined and feel awful for it.
You're not alone by any means there are millions doing what you are doing
This is the first time in 35 years, it's just been me and the misses,I don't mind missing one if it means I can have another 20

We had the in-laws round, but I declined letting my mum and her partner join us and am taking a Xmas dinner round to them in the morning.

The in-laws was more to do with the mental health aspect as my father-in-law has dementia and the mither-in-law needed to be with us, we had windows open etc and sat as apart as we could but it was difficult especially as the father-in-law continually asked us to close the windows as he was cold, lol.

Done our best though and there will be no guilty feelings in our household.

Enjoyed the day, been nice.

Same here, we've had as nice a day as you can have in this situation, put together a starter that we wouldn't have had, made my own stuffing and christmas pud, we've spoken on video to everyone we needed to.
