Its a fair point but pursuing this line it very much depends on what/and how long your being paid for?

I think they clearly do a fair amount of research, to maintain a commentary for 90 minutes, but that is never going to match the knowledge of a diehard fan or know the intricacies of the club and playing staff.

As for appeasing fans that is the impossible job. Take Foden as a case in point. Many view his amount of game time as a false narrative, put forward by the media, even though many fans agree.

Hello Frank, you've asked the City supporters on here what their thoughts are regarding how we are perceived / reported on in the media, as a City fan yourself, what's your take on things ?

Do you think we get a fair press on the whole?

Is there really nothing to see regarding the way we are reported on in general?

Did I imagine the FFP witch-hunt?

Where was the media balance there?

We were hung, drawn and quartered by all and sundry including 8 PL teams who wanted us banned from European competition along with points deduction and possible demotion from the PL, all BEFORE we'd had a chance to present our case..

Did I imagine how the establishment favoured Liverpool in the title run ins when impartiality was needed to be shown?

Do you think United legitimately deserve the unhealthy amount of penalties they have been awarded to date?

Do commentators on our games come across to you like they actually favour the opposition teams, literally willing them on to score against us or is this just me being paranoid?

When Liverpool score 7 and United 6 against teams why don't they get pulled up for disrespecting the opposition like we regularly did?

Is it healthy for the PL Brand to have Liverpool and United challenging at the top of the PL and if so do you think this is why VAR is cloudy at best ?

Me personally, I fully believe we do not get the press we deserve or have deserved for the achievements we have gained..

Our players have been regularly overlooked for individual awards despite contributing to some of the best football ever seen, anywhere..

100 point season and a clean sweep of all the domestic trophies had never been done before until we did it..

It's criminal how we are treated by the media on the whole..

I for one will not accept anything other than there is a bias against my Club when it comes to reporting anything fair and balanced..!

There is also a lot of ignorant and inaccurate journalism which is not just confined to coverage of City. Football fans in the UK are mostly very poorly served by the football media. The tabloid reporters operate as a pack and often agree angles on stories in advance as a sort of "cover my back" philosophy. There is very little genuine scrutiny and investigation.
For example the daily press conferences are absurd. We can watch them live which allows us to see how manager's comments are often twisted and distorted out of context.

I would not argue with much of that, particularly the second paragraph.

I think there are bound to be people who dislike us and thats reflected in their posts/tweets etc.

Not sure about the Guardian bit as not followed that enough.

I think with SKY/BT were always going to lose out on quantity of content because we do not match up in terms of numbers in comparison to United or Liverpool, whether that then manifests itself into an orchestrated campaign of negative content I am not sure. We have had this before with Scudamore but I would think overall we have been a positive for the Premiership and SKY would note that, just like our new commercial partners have noted it.

Not sure I agree with that take, but that was exactly Darkes reason for quoting Edersons fee but on here thats an example of bias/negative reporting?

that is it in a nutshell , we can beat ourselves up about individuals journalists . pundits , but it is their paymasters who have to be obeyed or they will fall off the gravy train , its not personal , its business and it puts food on the table

The likes of Stone/Darke/Tyrer and so many others do not have any integrity its clear they never consider facts they just go with the flow and none of them (the only exclusions i can think of is Martin Samuel and Graeme Souness there maybe others but you can count them on one hand)have got the balls to tell the truth , because it isnt newsworthy.

City get the shitty end of the stick from the media, that’s not something anyone can refute and retain even a modicum of respect from 99% of City fans.. This isn’t something that’s happening by the back door it’s in plain sight, they can’t even interview our manager without being snidey shithouses ..!

I think you’re jumping to another issue there, and unquestionably there are people who dislike the club and report accordingly.

Anyway were moving away from the commentary of Darke, which was my original point for posting.

I’ve already posted what i think of Darke, it’s not very complimentary, he should stick to boxing ... Or better still just keep his job shut..
