With all those counter-positive articles out there, by various sources, I am astonished that they've never, not once, posted one of these positive articles as they search for news about 'brexit'. Unless they are as you say, actively ONLY searching for anything negative about the UK's post-EU future.

They've all let their masks slip these past few months; no-one believes them when they say they 'care' about the UK, it's citizens and economy. Several of them are even advocating the break up of the UK, FFS!
A lot I suspect don’t actually care about being in the EU, it’s more an anti Tory thing

The result of the deal is that the European Union retains all of its current advantages in trading, particularly with goods, and the U.K. loses all of its current advantages in the trade for services,
NY Times

Frost and Johnson have played a blinder.
You missed the following sentence:
‘Said Tom Kibasi, former director of the institute Of public policy research’

Quick google of him and he is described as
Guardian journalist, head of a left wing think tank etc etc

So as usual a nice impartial view of brexit!!!

So present some facts that refute the assertion.

You're assuming that this 'Imperfect' deal will be amended, possibly, by some future govt. I would imagine that before any changes are made, the govt would need to explain exactly what needs change, and why. As far as I can see, this deal will fly through because it satisfies Brexit, so what needs to change? If it's in the hope that somehow we'll rejoin the SM, or any other feature, that would, imo, ensure that govt would not be re elected, so I'm at a loss
to fathom exactly what would be changed.

The deal will ‘fly through’ because it’s all we’ve got. The alternative is ‘no deal’ and we’ve no appetite for that.

Things that will change? A few obvious examples:

Dispensing with the new administrative burdens and red tape. The sales pitch is straightforward from a business viewpoint. Do you want trade between yourselves and your biggest export market to be simpler and cheaper to administer? The answer will always be yes.

Do you want UK professional qualifications to be recognised and valid in Europe allowing you to practise your trade in 29 countries? Again the answer will always be yes.

Financial services are not covered by the deal. Access to European markets will be done via time limited memorandums that the EU will unilaterally grant on a sector by sector basis. Most will not be ready by 1st Jan as the EU are requesting we provide more information. We need to be looking at a more stable and permanent deal for what is our biggest sector.

In each case there will be a price for better access, less red tape. The question then becomes are we willing to pay that price? Can political gravity continue to defy trade gravity? This will be the conflict for the years to come. Trade gravity pulls us towards the free movement of goods, people and capital across borders, Brexit gravity demands there be barriers to hinder this movement and make life more difficult. We had a unique sweet spot that worked well, now we will spend the next few years, a decade, trying to find a new sweet spot between the two gravities.

It would help enormously if the Govt would stop insisting up was down and lying about, well, everything, but then they have caved to reality for the second time this year so as ever watch what they do, not what they say.

I seem to remember you being ambivalent towards that. Whats changed?
Stil am, i'm merely pointing out the hypocrisy of those trying to attack others for supporting the decision to leave the EU as wanting to break up the UK but saying nothing about those who actively campaign to want to break up the UK.

Using the "I care about Britain, which is why I voted to remain" line to denigrate those who voted for independence, is so tedious and dishonest. When the Indyref2 debate happens, it'll be interesting to see those remainers attacking you for your support of Scottish Independence as "destroying the UK"

Unless you are a remainer who wanted to remain to keep the UK intact, now?

But is he correct? Is that a reasonable summation of the deal and if it isn’t then explain why.

They don’t just revel in it they go out of their way to find these negative articles.
It’s very sad really. To actually want your country to fail just to win an argument.
I see it the other way. Brexit is one giant failure, it will make us a poorer nation. Despite years of arguing the opposite from BS'ers like Gove and Farage its undeniably true. The Brexit deal confirms everything that remainers said all along. Its a shit outcome.

Leavers go out of their way to avoid the reality. They are happy to be lied to and cheer on the liars. What is that if its not wanting your country to fail.

Fair comment. Maybe you can discredit every other contributor to the article.

Or even better post something from a neutral source that tells us why it’s going to be great or why he’s wrong.

  • How is it? We're not even one year in and haven't passed the UK-EU trade deal yet. Are you one of those on the match day thread, who after 3 minutes starts complaining because we're not winning 3-0?
  • We're working on keeping all the trade deals with all the nations the EU had agreed with (Turkey being the most recent) and making trade deals with the nations the EU haven't yet. Throw on top the EU-UK trade agreement (an agreement with 27 EU nations, btw) and one has to question where is your evidence that it will make us a poorer nation, no longer being politically tied to Europe, because that is all that has happened.
  • No it isn't and you've no evidence to back that up. The UK has returned to it's position as the 5th largest economy.
  • Getting a trade arrangement with the EU is a "shit outcome" now? Okay Farage, calm down!
  • The reality such as we're going to leave with a deal, we will be able to forge new deals or keep existing ones once we've left? You mean that reality?
  • We've never cheered remainers.
  • Leavers stance: The UK can thrive after no longer being tied to EU bureaucracy and political association. It is a nation filled with talented people, an economic juggernaut that can attract people from all over the world, creating new ties, new relationships and forge new partnerships for the betterment of everyone in the world.
Remoaners stance: The UK is a nation filled with racists and Trumpist idiots! Without the EU it will crumble and we hope that it does, because it will mean remainers will have been proven correct all along! When the UK economy fails, which it will, millions will be out of work, jobs will be lost and on that day I will be one of those laughing and saying I told you so! And it will serve you right!

Erm, WHO are the ones wanting the country to fail here?

looks like you're lining up your excuses for when it all goes tits up.

Leaving aside the amount, it seems we have imposed Capital controls within our own country...which is bizarre. Even more bizarre that Brexiteers bang on about ‘muh sovereignty’.

HMRC confirms that travellers from GB will need to declare cash of 10,000 euro or more when entering NI from 1 January. Declarations can be made online up to 72 hours in advance.’ @BBC

Got to laugh at the accusations from the leavers about it being all about winning an argument on a football forum when they were immediately saying the deal gave them everything they want whilst admitting they hadn’t read it yet and only a few days after having their fingers crossed for no deal.

I’ll repeat again to avoid any doubt. I’m glad the deal was done. It was the best we could have achieved in the shit circumstances we put ourselves in.

It is much better than No Deal and has involved us backing down on all the key areas that the EU were adamant about. It also leaves us tied to EU regulations in many areas with the fig leaf that we can unilaterally change them if we want - but if we do they are entitled to apply tariffs where those changes have any effect on the LPF.

What it boils down to is that we have a lot less say in the rules that we need to adhere to in order to maintain free trade.

You're posting Bolloxs. You know full well our trade with the eu is now subject to a mass of red tape not to mention the internal customs border with NI and total loss of the services sector exports to the eu. And the deals you mention are in reality just putting back what we have lost. We are in a worse position and the prospect of engineering a better position outside the eu are close to nil.

Thanks for posting.
So we need to make a declaration if we travel with more than €10k from GB to and from NI but no declaration if we travel to and from NI from anywhere else in the EU.
Taking back control!
