Delusional. The EU have given away nothing. We are fully committed to EU trade rules. The no deal threat achieved nothing. This deal could have been done by May 2 years ago - the reason it wasn't was Johnson and the ERG would not have supported it. We are rule takers.
Yes.. you have to if you want to trade with the EU. Canada and Japan have also discovered this.

The idea being that we are not bound to EU rules when trading with others outside the EU.

Ha - there you go again

Hate Tories = hate Brexit - you really should not always conflate the 2 subjects

Reality is - the UK leaving the ECHR and the restoration of the death penalty has got absolutely fuck all to do with the topic of the UK leaving the EU in the scope of a referendum held in 2016 and finalised in 2020

Just more #FBPE bogeymen used to try and perversely link Brexit to something scary
I wouldn't have had the House of Lords as #FBPE bogeymen.

But you are utterly naive if you don't think it's not a Tory thing to get out of the ECHR (and obviously linked to Brexit), and yet another we conceded late on to get a deal.

But if you want to say it's separate from Brexit...

I suppose we need to hope with this deal apparently being so bad that the student protest vote of the lib dems, SNP and labour combined with the ERG and enough tory deserters might be able to stop it.

Who said it’s bad?
It’s just not as Brexity as you lot have been insisting for 4 years that you wanted. Now you’re all pretending it’s all you ever wanted. Funny as fuck.

I'm sure the EU are delighted with the deal mate.
Protected the single market.
Protected their surplus in goods trade with the UK.
Become more competitive in their own domestic markets at our expense on services
Better ways of working jointly may of course happen but worth remembering that neither side will accept loss of sovereignty/compomising integrity of single market so limited scope here IMO.
But we've demonstrated our sovereignty so (without another referendum) we're back to the normal thing of giving away a bit of sovereignty and autonomy with every treaty agreed under crown prerogative with independent arbitration (i.e. not in the UK courts).

Except for in all these cut and paste deals...

You've not paid attention to a single thing anyone has said for years, i'm not surprised the conclusion you've come to is the one you formed in your own head. Funny as fuck!

Winner winner chicken dinner! A compromise that we can all live with. Brexiteers can claim we've left, and Remainers can congratulate themselves that they have also prevailed. This is the greatest negotiating achievement in terms of solving the unsolvable and bringing a nation together since the GFA. At last we can all celebrate together at midnight on the 31st. :-)

To be fair I didn’t include you when I was generalising about Brexiteers as you’re the only one who has wanted EFTA/EEA from the start so this deal will be quite Brexity for you. But for nearly everyone else it goes against everything they’ve been saying for 4 years.

No it doesn't. You know how I know that they're being genuine about this outcome? Because I've read what they've said and wanted from the deal and understood their position without putting my own toxic remainer spin on them.

As far as a compromise goes it's reached their expectations and requirements. You sometimes forget you're dealing with Bluemooners, not twitter folk.

Surely it's not that easy to do over 60 trade deals in a few weeks - it will take decades. I refuse to believe it's that simple.
We've either done new deals, which they all said we couldn't do, or we've amended currently existing deals with EU partners... which they said we'd 100% lose upon brexit.

Either way some of them are looking very silly.

Sure.
That’ll be why they were happy without knowing what was in it last Thursday.

Some interesting analysis floating around, this from UK and EU has a fairly brutal summation.

British sovereignty run by Europe | UK in a changing Europe

‘It is one in which the UK might have sovereignty but actually less autonomy (arguably in some circumstances less than member states).

For it is a world in which the UK’s sovereignty will be policed on its own territory by a foreign administration in the form of the Commission with wide-ranging powers and few legal constraints and where its industry will have to accept the rules of the game set by Europe.’

I'm not laughing in case it's me who looks a twat when there's 7000 lorries stacked on the M20 next week and the supermarkets are bare.

Wait, how can you be accusing them of being hypocritical about liking the deal if you're suggesting they haven't even read the details of the deal?

And why does it matter to you so much how they feel about the deal now?

But we’ve taken back control and the Brexiteers are happy with the compromises.

They admitted they hadn’t read the details last Thursday. In their haste to declare victory on this forum (which is clearly what’s important to them) they didn’t realise how ridiculous that sounded. Obviously they’re not going to admit they were wrong now they know what’s in it.

I don’t give a fuck what they feel about the deal. I’m just pointing out blatant hypocrisy.
