It was always likely to be the case that Sergio would leave when he chooses to. Ergo if he wishes to stay then a new contract is bound to be offered. As for Messi, I think Agüero would be a huge factor in any decision.

I could be wrong, but I think what he means is, it's entirety Messi's personal decision whether to leave barcelona or not.
 
We reward loyalty by leaving the idea of staying to a long-serving player before offering a contract if they say they’re staying. The decision is up to them: Kompany, Silva.

All I keep seeing is that Aguero hasn’t said anything about wanting a new contract yet. Maybe waiting to see if his mate Messi will want to join him?

I think if Aguero does sign an extension then that’d be the biggest clue yet. Bigger than Pep’s extension.

We shouldn't wait until end of the season for him to decide. That will ruin our summer transfer window. Everything he has to know about barcelona should be clear to him by Feb(end)/March.
 
It would be nice if tomorrow we give him a pre-contract and ask him to sign it, we have had months to prepare it and he's had months to decide his future. There may be some uncertainty over COVID but we can finalise in when/if he signs. Either he does or doesn't. If he is waiting for the Barca election then he does not really want us. 5 years ago it might have been worth more effort but now get an answer and move on.

He's not signing anything anytime soon, whether it is a pre-contract or a renewal. He will wait as he has said to see what can be proposed and decide when he weighs up his options

I suspect he will not declare anything until Spring at the earliest, in all likelihood during knockout rounds of CL

Yeah but for us it is the equivalent of asking out a woman whose boyfriend is unsure of his sexuality, she says will hang around and see what he decides. Not a great place to be and most of us would just find someone with a genuine interest.
 
ahhh what an amazing assist by Lio. Simply outstanding. Just need a goal or 2 now.
 
Not taking anything away from that brilliant 1st half display against Chelsea. But with Messi in the team, I know, who wouldn't have played, City would have scored 10! OK, 8. Maybe 7? ;-)

De Bruyne, Foden, and Messi will destroy teams.
