Whether he visited him or not, Colin Bell talked about that tackle and said he saw Buchan coming and planned to move out of the way. But he got his foot caught in the turf so he couldn't avoid it and the way his leg was made it worse than it otherwise might have been.
I seem to remember Colin saying that he had never received an apology for that tackle. If I am wrong I apologies.

I am sure he claims to have seen Duncan Edwards thinking everybody is stupid or mathematically-challenged or both.
I was taken as a primary schoolboy right at the top of the main stand with a load of boys peering over the wooden wall like the cartoon. Forgot the name and indeed most of the match, apart from the men in front talking about Edwards and to a greater extent about Scanlon putting a barmaid in the family way.
And of course they all claim to have seen this player and that player when TV coverage was rare and the picture awful.
Main qualification for a journo. Ability to lie.
That last bit should say lie badly.

I too am old enough to have witnessed Colin's career at City, thanks to my Dad and Grandad, remembering the joy and entertainment he brought to the game. RIP true King.

On another note I was at a Police retirement party, and who should show up but Buchan. One of rhe Policewomen present later went up and asked if he would like to dance. His reply was "Manchester United players don't dance!" , suddenly a voice from one of my City loving colleagues was heard "Well you danced pretty well on Colin Bell's leg". Buchan didn't stay long after that.

I remember being stood in the Boundary Park paddock during the Easter 2-2 draw with Oldham in 1984.

Buchan was playing for Oldham and clouted Parlane on the edge of the box. A big booming voice behind me called out "Buchan, you dirty bastard, you crippled Colin Bell, now you're trying to cripple Parlane!"

Has anyone found any positive derby pieces yet? Plenty for the rags, apparently sir Rashford is the most valuable player in the world due to his recent goal scoring exploits, Woodward is the best paid CEO, Diallo to the rags, Fletcher perfect for his new senior coaching role, Dean Henderson urging his teammates to ‘paint the town red’.
Just another day in tabloid world.

Colin was really bitter about the tackle, which you would be, and the fact that Buchan never visited him in hospital to apologise, something that George Best did after he broke Glyn Pardoe’s leg. Not that it made any difference but at least he apologised.
To be honest I saw both tackles live, with very good vantage points in the stadiums and always thought the Best one was much worse (and deliberate). The Buchan one was less clear cut and could have been accidental. But Bell's injury happened in one of the most seething atmospheres I have ever experienced at Maine Road so you can't tell for sure. The only two people who know the truth are Colin himself and Martin Buchan and, as far as I know, Buchan has never spoken of it.

remember watching it on Sportsnight when i got home, think Barry Davies was the commentator, pretty sure he said "he stood on the ball",never seen any footage if it since....

I think the word is barely used anymore as a piss take, I haven’t seen it/heard it recently anyway and it’s not like it’s a very niche word.

Nearly everyone reading the article won’t realise or think anything of it.

I just think there’s more than enough doubt with that one, to give them the benefit of doubt.

The word massive will be used to report on us occasionally, it’s just too much of a common word not to feature somewhere.
ffs.

I have my faults dear sir. Thankfully, one of them is not putting any of my money in the pockets of thr toxic msm.

Also, there are not many residents of Newton upon the Heath who are capable of reading the adventures of Pepa Pig, never mind a news paper.
'Peppa''....

SKY Sports News - Liverpool have said they will offer to lend Anfield for Covid vaccinations.

Erm... Haven’t City already done the same for testing and I’m pretty sure a friend of mine has already been offered a job to help with vaccines at the Etihad... radio silence.
That’s right la can’t take your possessions in there la leave your car keys and wallet with us la then get your vaccine la

Scousers get non stop slagging on here, highlighted here https://forums.bluemoon-mcfc.co.uk/threads/corruption-in-english-football.348986/page-2 for indirectly getting a journalist sacked. Mock them as much as you want but they wouldn't tolerate that above headline, its sick, disgusting, insensitive, cheap, spiteful, inexcusable, its a fucking horrible thing to write anyone but a person I have never heard a bad word spoken about makes its worse. If the writer still has a job by close of business tonight then you as a support base haven't done your job.
Fuck the mickeys and fuck spurs

I agree, Best went in with a lot more intent than Buchan did. He weird thing about the aftermath of the Best tackle was that he couldn’t believe he was being booked for it. It was a very nasty tackle indeed.

Just posted on the Colin thread and saw this on here. So paste here what I put:
"I was there the night the dirty red clogger put Colin out of action. Mate's older brother said my Dad was screaming at Buchan saying he had finished King Colin's career. Wow he had brilliant glasses to know that. Anyway Hartford was brilliant that night and we won 4 nil. Same tonight please".
