Suggest you try doing some more research
Why don’t you provide some evidence then?

It’s not on me as I’m not making the claim there was any connection.

I’ll wait though...

P.s - bit of a shit house way of replying, if you’re going to make an argument, make it, rather than a snide dig about research when your provided zero evidence.

No offence but there’s less consequences to whatever your government says.

Our PM has condemned it and said he supports a peaceful transition of power. Our PM has said more than the other powerful Western European nations.
I’m no fan of Boris, but I saw what he had to say and thought fair play to him.
Saw nothing wrong in the tone of it.

Sorry. But if you see fascism in action, you call it. No matter the consequences. You don't play politics with it. That is appeasement. Patel failed on this measure alone.

Patel is Home Secretary, it’s not her job to criticise other world leaders.

I would have preferred it if he just condemned the behaviour and left it at that to be honest but him saying he supports a peaceful transition of power isn’t the end of the world.
I really dont understand where you are coming from with this view. It is vital that we speak out, especially about there having to be a peaceful transition of power

Fuck me, our PM put out a statement and condemned it.

It isn’t Patel’s job and she would have been briefed to leave it to the PM.

Why can’t people get this into their heads?

How are there less consequences for us when speaking out?

You're ok. The BBC are covering for her.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-55571482

The headline and the article says that she said his words "directly led" to the violence. If you watch the clip she doesn't actually say that. She says his words were "associated with" the violence.

Pathetic from both Patel and the BBC.

There are strong links between the US and Eire, so that isnt correct.

Why are you shouting at me?
Is it your view that the UK govt should have remained silent on the issue?
Im not, I’m just making it clear, if I was shouting I’d have put !

;-)

I think we should have condemned what happened and left it at that.

I want us to distance ourselves from Trump and quietly start relationship building with Biden.

Johnson went one further but I’m not upset with what he said, I think he said as much as he can at this stage.

You’re letting your anti Tory bias cloud your judgement.

I don’t want the Home Secretary saying a fucking word about one of our allies in a situation like this, it’s not her job.

Leave it to the PM and less so, Foreign Secretary.

The whole Cabinet will have been briefed to let the PM comment and to keep quiet.

I suspect if they quoted her like that, then she really did say it.
The clip is 1.40 of a 15 minute segment.

The UK is a leading member of NATO.

The UK is in the G7.

The UK is going to attract greater world wide media attention as it’s a bigger, more powerful country.

Just as the US will attract more attention than the UK around the world.

I don’t have an anti Tory bias. I think Johnson’s the worst PM in living memory and he’s surrounded himself with the least talented cabinet I can remember. I also think Corbyn was the worst leader of the opposition for a long time. I’m judging them on their individual performances not their party affiliation.

It is if the ethos of collective responsibility still subsists, especially as she is charged with upholding law and order. On that basis, she is perfectly entitled and arguably required to comment on the breakdown of the rule of law within the seat of democracy of such a close ally, aided and abetted, as it was, by its Head of State.

Home Secretary, after PM and possibly Chancellor of the Exchequer, is the highest office in the land. Of course she can comment. To suggest it is beyond her remit to do so is absurd. She’s not a fucking diplomat.

That doesn't explain how there are less consequences. If we are so small and weak any problems would hurt us more?
I think you underestimate how powerful the Irish voice is in American politics.
No, I really do not underestimate it.

The UK and US are military allies on the world stage, with actual enemies out there. There are consequences to us not being a united front.

Ireland isn’t a military country and your greatest risk is pissing the Americans off.
