ive just spoken to work, and they seem to think i will have to start again, very confusing.

hope you get well soon yourself, we need a fit and healthy tolm+family for our transfer news :)

Thanks mate. Please speak to track and trace or your doctors, I was given the same impression that self isolation periods are extended for those people already positive, as subsequent members of the household also test positive.

I don't know if the guidelines have changed but they were insistent my wife and son did not have to extend self isolation and it was just me who had to tag on another ten days to the previous four days I had already served.

I am pretty sure this story was discussed on here weeks ago when someone blew the whistle on this before. No easy way to search here to check, But does anyone recall it as I am 90% certain it was raised.

If true and this has been openly known to be happening for weeks then that is criminal and akin to literally swilling away lives that could be saved.

Agreed, it reads again that there is no countrywide advisory channel for all involved. I find that inexplicable. They do have email, I assume? Or if someone had the balls to accept the blame, there is television.

For the Pfizer one, there can't be that many places distributing it that need telling.

I stand corrected. I hope it wasn't me.
Best wishes for your recovery by the way.

Haha, no pal. Thanks.

I would urge everyone to speak directly to track and trace.

So much conflicting information out there and easy to assume what is right or wrong.

It is changing all the time. It wasn't that long ago people were having to do 14 days and then reduced to ten.

I am now being hassled for my plasma and happy to donate.

Yes, your self isolating period does extend a further ten days if you test positive, but your wife does not have to do another ten (if that is what I assumed you were asking)

Take care pal.

Scottish data is really bad today:

93 deaths

2309 cases at 8.1% positive

692 - Greater Glasgow, 390 Lanarkshire, 220 Lothian, 192 Grampian

1530 in hospital - up 63 in day and now above the highest patient numbers in wave 1 in April

102 on icu ventilator beds - up 2. And double where it was week before Christmas

%positive rate plateuing/slightly decreasing?

Possibly a case of just trying to find positives where there are none.

I wonder if the issue is that there is 'usually' a 6th dose, but not always. So they either drag some 80 year old in and potentially have to turn them away. Or they just use the 6th dose on anyone who happens to be around.

The mayor of London has declared a major incident in the capital as the spread of Covid threatens to overwhelm the city hospitals.

The rest of the country, and indeed the world, should treat this as a warning and react now.

Stay home blues. Tell your friends and family the same.

Thought so.

This Peston story IS old news on the vaccine.

Obviously people might listen now he is promoting it but the fact we knew this three weeks ago is very disturbing.

And did they really start using the 6th dose then or not?

Here is what I posted (though I do not mention where I read it annoyingly).

This is post 76, 365 in the old thread posted on 18 December.

QUOTE:-

On the vaccine it is odd what they are doing with the current one. Hope this is safe. Each vial of the
of the vaccine we are giving out now is supposed to fill 5 doses. But they apparently discovered it includes enough to do six doses.

Up to now they have told doctors just to use the 5 doses and get rid of the 'waste'. Given the delays and urgency to get on with protecting the most vulnerable they have now told them to use the 'waste' as a sixth dose.

Though I am sure it has been assessed and is perfectly OK to do this I can imagine how some of the media will scare monger around that news,

Are YOU getting the vaccine leftovers?

This seems like a manufacturing issue to me. Ie you fill it with more than 5 doses to make sure you're never underfilling and leaving someone with a short dose which would not protect them.

The NHS will be getting its guidance from the manufacturer, they aren't going to be the ones who decides how many doses in a vial. The idea that Pfizer is giving away a free dose with every 5 dose vials unnecessarily seems very unlikely.

By the way in the latest Weekly Pop Score table for the England Regions - as expected the NW has slipped to the worst Northern region.

As you will see everywhere rising but NW is rising the most and climbing up the table.

Yorkshire still performing the best but starting to increase its rise too - just behind the curve of everywhere else

This is what the new strain of the virus is doing to the UK right now.

REGION // WEEKLY POP // UP FROM // % RISE

1: LONDON 1056 // 818 // 27%

2 EAST ENGLAND 798 // 566 // 41%

3 SOUTH EAST 717 // 499 // 44%

4 WEST MIDLANDS 527 // 277 // 90%

5 NORTH WEST 478 // 226 // 112%

6 NORTH EAST 425 // 224 // 90%

7 EAST MIDLANDS 422 // 251 //68%

8 SOUTH WEST 344 // 183 // 88%

9 YORKSHIRE 301 // 189 // 60%

See my post right above yours updating the story and reposting what I posted 3 weeks ago in this thread when I first heard the reports.

What on earth happened to the Nightingale hospitals?

Ive seen comments from ex nurses and others who have written letters offering to work in them but have been ignored.

My brother (and fellow bluemooner) just tested positive. They reckon he caught it around Boxing Day. Rest of his household awaiting test results. This thing is out there and invisible and every one of you is vulnerable and even if you get through it anyone you meet in the 10 days or so you might be incubating without symptoms might not be.

Just think how many you could be in proximity to inside during those days and ponder how you would feel if just one of them gets very sick.

Most don't. But a few do. And you do not want on your conscience the death of even a stranger caused because you felt it was not a risk at your age to mix as much as you dared.

We are in the critical few weeks of this outbreak, What all of us do from here on until (hopefully) the vaccines turn the corner before the virus finds a way around them will determine not just the fate of your family but the lives of others you might infect without knowing it.

You really don't want to spend the rest of your life wondering 'what if' you never took that risk that day.
