Wow that's horrific numbers

BREAKINGDeaths rise by record 1,325 in UK

The UK has recorded a further 1,325 deaths - an all-time high.
There were 68,053 cases, which is the highest figure since mass testing began.
Yesterday there were 52,618 cases and 1,162 deaths.

a question

my wife tested positive on monday the 4th
so we have to isolate for 10 days.
ive sent my test off yesterday, if it comes back say tomorrow does my wife have to start her 10 day isolation again ?, my daughter is waiting for her self test to arrive, if it comes today and we do the test and it comes back in 2 days positive, do we then have to start isolation for 10 days again ?
A Wife is positive isolates for 10 days and can go out on day 11 (15th) providing she doesn't have temp or sickness and diarrhea. Did your wife have symptoms when she had the test if not and she develops symptoms the isolation clock will start again for her and all the family.
B Husband and C daughter isolate for 10 days and can go out on 15th
B Tests positive on day 5 he isolates for a further 10 days Wife and daughter do not need to extend her isolation
If C then goes and gets a test on 16th and is positve the Wife would have to self isolate again because we can't be sure of immunity and also may be new strain of covid. B would still be self isolating as positve so would continue his own isolation and wouldn't extend.
There are so many combinations, Hope I have helped but if you need any more info feel free to message me.
You should not have a retest after testing positive within 60 days of first test as there can still be fragments of Covid in body and you and family will all have to reisolate again.

7 day average over 800 and up by over 40%. Perhaps some holiday registrations effect still in there (he says, hopefully) ?

Cases and hospitalisation 7 day averages up by 30%+, so you can expect deaths to rise likewise for at least a fortnight.

All of which was predictable, and predicted, before Christmas, sadly.

Very depressing

This lockdown isn't going to work. It just isn't. Supermarket near me today - was one in one out back in the spring. No one's arsed now. Everyone in and out. Brushing past each other as they pass through the door without waiting. All those measures have gone, despite it being worse than ever. Went out for some fresh air, walked past offices with people in, roads dead busy. We're just fucked.

Truly awful figures again today. It’s going to be a bleak few weeks ahead.

Awful numbers. How can people still see numbers like that and still act like selfish arseholes? Far too many people not adhering to the rules, even the simple ones about masks and washing hands

That’s the problem now isn’t it. It felt ordered in April. It doesn’t now. People are encroaching on others personal space. If this variant is a contagious as they make out then it’s not a good combination.

We're going to need an astonishingly strong change of tack from the government to handle this, but it simply isn't gonna happen. We all know it. Behaviour and compliance has gone in the bin since the summer and zero has been done about it.

if another two weeks of rising numbers that could easy reach 2k per day :-(

Probably on a daily basis. Most likely not on a seven day average (currently 800) unless the lockdown doesn't get R<1 which we don't know yet.

A reminder that this was absolutely obvious before Christmas, yet the govt decided to let it rip across the country for another fortnight.

Unforgiveable.

Exactly anyone not here in mid December should look back at this forum and see it is not hindsight.

Many in here were predicting what was coming and how urgent action was needed then.

The data day after day was pointing only one way.

And the consequence was obvious.

If ordinary people in a Football Forum saw what was coming when it was still just about early enough to at least stem the tide it is unforgivable imo that our leaders were either not seeing this - or were and chose to prioritise making people feel good at Christmas regardless.

As I said then they SHOULD have tempered the bad news with good of a new Thanksgiving Bank Holiday in the Spring when we had things back under control.

Many would have compromised on that but chose not to wait 12 months until next Christmas.

The lack of creative thinking versus following set beliefs and rigidity of dogma has badly held the UK back.

Schools aren’t closed. Far from it. My daughter’s school have 210 in. Utter madness. Like fighting a war with a spoon when what’s needed is clearly a machine gun. If we want to get this thing beaten we need a national lockdown. In its truest sense; not the half-arsed thing we’ve got now.

The Mixed and confusing messages they come out with just add to everything. Work from home if you can, but go to work if you can’t work from home etc. Get the bus if you have to, but don’t get the bus etc

The new slogan needs to be “stay the fuck at home, and keep the fuck away from everyone else”

All this half arsed shit is killing people

What will it take for the Moron to impose a proper lockdown for a month or so.
This ‘Lockdown’ atm is a complete farce and non existent!
He should resign as he is clearly not up to the job!

He just won't. Fuck off all these shite takeaways being open. Garden centres ffs! Churches! Enforce supermarkets to have strict rules again.

As this thread has been my go to source for all things Covid, I thought I'd post information that has raised a question.

My niece, a teacher, was ill in March and an antibody test proved she had had it.

In December she tested positive for coronavirus. Was way less ill second time around but passed it on to her boyfriend. A friend of hers has also tested positive twice.

This suggests that immunity is time limited. Does it also mean vaccinations will need to be done yearly

The mRNA vaccines are effective against the UK and SA strains a study suggests.
thank fuck for that ive been worried about going back to square 1 with the reports the s a variant may be vaccine resistant
