When Boris next comes on TV he should be highlighting this and explaining to us why the police are doing fuck all and also why the BBC are not criticising it
Yet arresting 2 women, clearly socially distanced, in a remote place, who are not breaking any law, other than drove a bit to get there.

No wonder the public are confused !

Nearly 1% of the UK population were tested today.
I find that staggering, that in 24 hours, that many feel they actually need a test, do they all really need to be tested because they think they have symptoms ?

The absolutely last place I want to go is a testing centre, unless I have very good reason to go get a test. If you want to catch this, a testing centre is the most likely place to actually catch it (other than hospital or care home perhaps).

A company called Edge Health have analysed IFR rates by district to derive immunity levels. You might find it interesting.

Take IFR of 0.5% and the death total for the UK and you get 16m infections 24% of the population. They get 22.5%

You can project forward for yourselves to the 15th Feb using the Govt vaccination target and your own estimate of the new infections per day.

They reckon 38.6% of people in Manchester have been infected. Sounds very high as I didn't think Manchester had been badly affected.

But the haphazard way this is being done is absurd. At 89 now my friend is in dire need given her problems but still had heard nothing apart from - she insists - a phone call before Christmas FROM Hancock himself assuing her she was getting it early as one of the ones who was on the vulnerable list.
I've had a discussion with my mum today, she's 79, and heard nothing, but everyone over 75 she knows has had at least 1 jab, they are being informed by letter, and all over the christmas mass post period, I've told my mum she needs to discuss with her doctor tomorrow, because she may have been sent a letter and just not received it, so tell your friend to phone immediately, as she just may not have got her/his letter.

Don't take no for an answer, lots haven't turned up for appointments, that may be because they never received their appointment.

We haven't reached the over 75s yet. It''s over 80s & Hancock revealed today that we're through 1/3 of the over 80s.

Clearly they have where my mum lives, everyone she knows over 75 has had their first jab, and she knows a lot as she's 79, so respectfully please take your comment and shove it.
That's a bit OTT.

From nhs.co.uk 8th Jan 2021

The NHS is currently offering the COVID-19 vaccine to people most at risk from coronavirus.

In England, the vaccine is being offered in some hospitals and pharmacies, at hundreds of local vaccination centres run by GPs and at larger vaccination centres.

It's being given to:

  • people aged 80 and over
  • people who live or work in care homes
  • health and social care workers at high risk
You will also need to be registered with a GP surgery in England. You can register with a GP if you do not have one.

The vaccine will be offered more widely as soon as possible.

It isn't.

I know what the JCVI have said, and what is instructed, but don't accuse my mum of lying, different health authorities are doing what they are doing, not all are the same, and it depends on their numbers.

Anyway my post was to @Healdplace who has a friend at 89, with other underlying issues who has heard nothing, and that might well be because a letter has gone missing in the post, the christmas post, a very busy period, where I know for fact post has gone missing, as it might in my mums case.

I don't really care what you think if I'm honest, most of my mums friends, same age or younger, have already been vaccinated, so she may well have not received her letter.

Worse, some places are having to dispose of vaccine because people are not turning up for appointments, some may be anti vacs, but how many have never received their appointments ? That is a waste of a very important resource.

Police arrested a 19 year old in Bristol for arranging an outdoor music party where 40 plus people were attending.

We will never beat this virus until these Fuckwits are taken out of society
Surprised they've managed to arrest anybody, the Police have gone missing during this pandemic, probably working from home

Fair enough, yet the fact that this continues to be in the national media shows how half hearted many people’s support for beating the virus really is.

Socially distanced in the photo taken after the event.

I think the media has a lot to answer for, they've been moaning for months about covidiots and the police doing nothing about it, the second they do we start getting stories about police states, and highlighting every possible over the top reaction.

It's frustrating as the press could have played a role in educating, and clearing up confusion. But I think they do the opposite.

Very true. One of the walkers looks like a model so the media’s sense of public interest goes out of the window.

They did go in two cars, I thought. That suggests an intention to keep distance.

They didn’t live in the same house mate so it was probably more convenient for them to go in 2 cars, I guess. Especially, since one of them would have headed off to buy the coffees I assume?

The coopers might have been over zealous and made a mistake. What I don’t understand is why during a pandemic two people would go on national TV to try to get public servants trying to enforce the rules into trouble. Maybe it’s the reality TV culture of modern society. I just don’t know.

In my lifetime I would have have thought that I would promote people being fined but sod it, many businesses have had to shut for months and are losing money due to tossers flouting the rules. Start fining £10k, make a few examples and people will begin to think twice about arranging gatherings etc.

It going on tv is certainly a very modern thing, I agree. I assume it was them, and not the police who first did so.

It sounds as though the police were waiting for anyone turning up, and going directly to the fine does seem harsh. Might've a buildup of several days for that force, but the BBC advice says you can exercise with one other person - whether 5 miles is 'local' is more awkward. There was a retired senior policeman on at the weekend saying it's undefined.
