Fuck me. We're gonna kill people as we vaccinate them. Who thought this set up was a good idea?!

I've had a discussion with my mum today, she's 79, and heard nothing, but everyone over 75 she knows has had at least 1 jab, they are being informed by letter, and all over the christmas mass post period, I've told my mum she needs to discuss with her doctor tomorrow, because she may have been sent a letter and just not received it, so tell your friend to phone immediately, as she just may not have got her/his letter.

Don't take no for an answer, lots haven't turned up for appointments, that may be because they never received their appointment.
I don't know if it's the same procedure but in my Dad's case the letter from his surgery arrived in Saturday and it asks the recipient to go on line to book a test slot, in his case at Hyde Active Drive Through Centre. I did it for him and there were 357 available tests in lane 1 or lane 2 at I think around 3 minutes intervals. The letter stated if someone doesn't have access to the internet then telephone the surgery and they will book but a mobile number or email address must be supplied, it can be family or friends. The letter also states its "first come first serve" basis, I had plenty to choose from but the earliest day was Thursday.

Tested positive this morning. I'm usually fit and healthy, let's see how this thing goes.

Started feeling a bit cold and shivery, developed a cough. Take the odd coughing fit once every hour or so where it's a bit of a struggle for breath, otherwise ok for now. Also I'd say sore muscles as well, back uncomfortable and jaw was aching whilst eating a packet of crisps......strange one.
Get well soon mate and fellow Scot. You'll be fine i expect. I think I've had if before too but never been tested so can't say for sure. Other than going to shops or a walk, or for medical reasons, I've mostly been in the house since March.

Get well soon. Don't make the same mistake as me and make sure you are fully recovered for a few weeks before trying to exercise or run again if you are so inclined.

I might have had it in April, before testing was available. I only suspect because in laws were hospitalised with it and a bit later I suffered back aches and tight chest. Then, when not fully recovered I resumed running and cycling etc. One day after blasting up a steep hill on bike I suffered sore tight chest for a couple days. I recently read that training too early after covid could damage the heart. Footballers could suffer in future? So take it easy.
Good advice on the recovery, not Covid related but an engineer friend of mine had a colleague who was off work for a few weeks with a virus a few years ago. He was an avid runner, he went back to work and on the first day went for a jog, he got back to the workshop feeling unwell, collapsed and died in front of his colleagues. The virus had weakened his heart and he had apparently been told to take it easy by his doctor but he was obsessed with keeping fit, a salutary lesson.

Gotta say the precautions on vaccination look likely to kill more people through COVID transmission than they save through anaphylaxis treatment.

There's so many different symptoms, I didn't eat properly for around 16 days, just no appetite, I think @tolmie's hairdoo was the same as he lost 29 pounds. I had a crashing headache as well and brain fog amongst other things. Wishing you a speedy recovery, plenty of paracetamol and fluids, take care pal.

One of the ladies was on the radio (LBC) yesterday, very impressive I thought; sympathetic to the police, aware of the need to follow guidance, just seeking clarity on "local".

On the other hand, that photo of the two of them you saw is clearly no selfie (or taken by Derbys Police); did they invite the press to the reservoir to take it afterwards ? If so that really is unnecessary activity.
Yes. It was posed later for the press l think

Jesus christ, that's horrendous.

I'd probably consider going to the GP for a check up once I'm "recovered" from covid, just to check over the heart and see if there's any lasting damage that I should know about. Then again, probably can't get an appointment for such a thing just now. Would like the peace of mind if and when that time comes though.

I'm not sure which photo you're referring to but the Scum are running one which claims to be close to their home (with obligatory takeaway cups) and the Metro are using one which appears to be from the reservoir itself (again with takeaway cups). So they had at least 2 photo opportunities along with their original moronic 5 mile drive while 'socially distanced'.

I'd love to know how many police supposedly 'surrounded' them.

Did anyone ask if they shared a car on any of their journeys?

I'm not quite sure what's wrong there bud? It looks like 2m spacing to me?

That is not 2 metres as far as I can tell. You're not lying a six foot person (2m) down head to toe between those chairs are you? It's about 2/3rds, at most, of that. Especially the chairs in front of other ones. Given the advice is often used for brief encounters, and not a bunch of vulnerable people sat around together waiting for ages indoors where transmission is stronger, with a new, more transmissible variant....well yeah, it seems incredibly unwise to me. They're all sharing the same breath guaranteed.

Edit - maybe perspective is fucking with me, but it certainly doesnt look it to me.

2m is a largely meaningless number anyway, its nowhere near large enough to protect you from airborne droplets. It was just plucked out of the air as an achievable distance that people could/would follow.

If they're 1.5m apart and all wearing masks the difference isn't going to be significant.

This is from the government document reviewing distances.

Some countries similar to the UK have recommended distances below 2m when prevalence has fallen and with other mitigations in place. France, Italy and Singapore recommend 1 metre, South Korea recommends 1-2 metres, and Germany, Australia and the Netherlands recommend 1.5 metres. Denmark and New Zealand have reduced their recommended distance from 2 metres to 1 metres with mitigations.

I was really bad in Sept & Oct but with a negative test. For 2 weeks I literally couldn't walk beyond the garden gate (so an enforced isolation) due to lack of breath. Constant coughing, night sweats that were truly terrifying as I'd wake up from nightmares that I was drowning only to find that I pretty much was (went through a lot of bedding :( ), full body shivering fits where I had to try and not bite my own tongue off. Headaches but no loss of taste or smell. I lost a lot of weight myself which I'm trying to deliberately keep off now.

Since the test was negative the lad had to go back to work at a food warehouse, luckily the wife never showed any symptoms. I managed to get out in the 3rd week but only for driving the wife to the supermarket where I'd sit and wait for her as I couldn't have managed a walk around the aisles. By the 4th week I joined her but I was knackered by the time I got home. It was 6 or 7 weeks before the dogs got a walk and they were very short ones at that.

Heavy anti-biotics eventually helped and I still don't know if it was Covid or not. No one should take 'breathing difficulties' lightly, I still don't feel 100% back to how I was in the Summer.

Are you measuring between (say) the back of the chair to the back of the one in front or front to back? As said 1.5m or 2m is fairly moot anyway, can't tell from the photo about ventilation which is more important there.

Just take it easy and don't rush back too quick, I've had heart arrhythmia for over 30 years now and my Doctor told me to use the Borg scale as a guide when doing any exercise and not to get to the point where I was getting to out of breath. Have a look here:

Yes it's been known for some years now that a viral infection can weaken the heart muscle. It seems insane he didn't follow his doctors advise but lots of people think "I'm as fit as a fiddle I'm cracking on!"

Ah right, one I saw was staged at the reservoir I thought. Completely unnecessary journeys by press as well but of course they're "just doing their job" spreading hate.

The lady said they'd taken separate cars (on the first journey, anyway).
