City “buy” the FA Cup!

Just watched the video. Well dome to the Sheikh and to Gary James. Excellent stuff with the old black & white film and still photos from 1904 & '34 and 1956 alongside the '69 and Stoke and Watford victories. Had forgotten Princess Anne wearing red & black when she presented Tony Book with the Cup! Would have liked it to include that clip of Sam Cowan saying "we'll be back next year" or some such after losing to Everton but agree 100% with those who've said this wonderful old competition should never be taken lightly and hope to see MCFC win it again this May, forty years on from the misery caused by Ricky bloody Villa.

With Sunday's match v B'ham being a repeat of the Trautmann final, can someone please save me the time looking it up and say who are the surviving members of that team now?

I would like to see a colourised picture of the 1904 team with the cup. There’s so much the club could do to promote its history.

It's not colourised, but here the team is identified on the first photo, and the second is higher quality.

And waited 40 years to arrange a benefit match for the families of the victims which they then combined with a testimonial match for a French millionaire who had played for them for less than 5 years.
They paid said millionaire and his entourage all their expenses from the proceeds, a huge percentage of the proceeds to him and deducted ALL the expenses down to the printing costs for match programs before dishing out around £40k each, or £1k for each year they turned their backs on them, to each family.
Harry Gregg called them out on their poor treatment of the victims regularly until the day he died.
Calling this club vile, shameless scum is an insult to vile shameless scum.
Also kicked the Busby family out of the souvenir shop to make way for the megastore

We watched the piece on Football Focus earlier, and we thought it was excellent. @Gary James was brilliant in his summary of events.

That must have been some journey for the 40 000 that made the trip from Manchester to Crystal Palace and back.

Well done to all involved.

Only Oakie still around...........rest are gone

Great piece of work @Gary James and well played on SM in retaining such an important piece of English football heritage to ensure it stays in the country and city where it means so much.

Just when you think the club can't do any more, they go and do this.
