Premier League to have meetings with captains and managers re COVID
Almost a balanced article by Stone compared to the Matt "c***" Lawton" Times crap. Amazed because it is Simon Stone.

How many other managers have been asked to comment on their own players hugging?
I suspect most will look at the flak that Pep got and perhaps give a different answer than if they were asked two days ago.

According to the BBC article above " Graham Potter said it was "doable" but added that it would need a change in mindset to ensure the protocols were met"

Has she apologised yet?
No idea as I don't listen to the BBC but I hope she is called out if it is true. How despicable to use Covid as a weapon against someone who has been bereaved because of it? I wonder how many press reports today twisting Pep's words and attacking him included the context that his mother has died from it. It's unbelievable.

Can wrestle people to the ground at a corner but can't hug someone in your own bubble. City are actually ahead of the curve as we don't even coach our players how to tackle. Next time we score a goal all the players should whip out face masks from their shorts and form an orderly queue for a takeout coffee

She’ll claim she didn’t know, of course, given which, considering her profession, the radio station she works for (news and sport ffs) and how she’s rewarded for it, makes her grossly incompetent at best.

BBC midday news has a video extract of one of this weeks footy matches to show players hugging after scoring. I suppose that there weren't many teams who played since last Thursday whose players couldn't resist congratulating the scorer, but it's rather odd that they manage to pick out a team in sky blue! But, there again, the BBC have a bad news item so let's see if we can crowbar MCFC back on telly again.

A change of mindset by whom? I watched last night as players and coaching staff went through a rigmarole of fist and elbow touching and then hugged somone close up, almost cheek to cheek. Barmy. I don't see why a replacement for a handshake is necessary. Words can easily suffice in these circumstances.
I think the government should have laid down what is or is not permissible rather than being vague about everything.

The same publicising but opposite intent when there is something positive. Such as testing takes place is several places in Liverpool - pics of Anfield and a glare of red everywhere. Marcus Rashford send out a tweet - red shirts glaring out again.

I suspect the initial source of this entire goal celebration story was initially briefed privately by Government officials. There were some articles saying "Ministers are angry" etc. This put pressure on the PL to do something. It smells of a contrived media storm designed to deflect blame away from the Government while the death figures are so high.
Given that players spend their whole lives in constant contact with each other and have tests three times a week the health risks from goal celebrations is just spurious. Reporters like Matt Lawton and Mike Keegan are either too stupid to see they are being used or are happy to be client journalists for the Government and/or the PL.
