Things do seem to be slowly moving in the right direction. Daughter who has had covid and is a student nurse vaccinated in last hour and is going on a ward working from 3rd of February.

Will she be getting 2nd dose of vaccine before returning to work?

Question to any Kiwi blues out there; how have you got to that point? Is the whole country vaccinated now? It only takes one infected person in that crowd, and you're back to square one. And yes; I'm aware that NZ's geographical location, vis a vis their relative isolation, gives them an advantage in controlling the virus. But with air travel so commonplace these days, is anywhere truly "isolated" any more?

Newcastle has vaccinated all care home residents and nearly all staff. That is an incredible achievement.

Been for a test this morning. Cough since yesterday, aches all over and everything tastes funky; even water tastes like metallic. Not what we need right now so hoping it’s not positive but everything points that way currently.

Old man and Mrs tested too, old man has a slight cough, and smell is slightly off but he’s not sure if that’s just in his head. Mrs has a cough but fine otherwise.

Think different areas are using slightly different strategies. I expect most to reach the same point by the end of Feb with the first 4 groups, maybe Newcastle, like Scotland, where all care homes done too,have concentrated on care homes first before moving resources onto walk ins.

My nan is nearly 80 and very vulnerable.

Just found out there’s a nurse(s) coming to her care home tomorrow to vaccinate her... and presumably others hopefully too.

Very happy.

Some positive news today on my 82 year old mother. She has been moved from hospital to a rehab unit and is getting her first jab tomorrow. Having contracted covid in hospital she has shown no symptoms which confirms what a bizarre virus it is.
Maybe down to the amount of medications she's been taking, more than a title winning team from Liverpool!

I've just been looking at the numbers of vaccinations in the English regions & London is lagging badly and it's the worst performing region. The North East has done far more even though the population is far smaller.

Absolute Must watch documentary on BBC2 about the Covid 19 pandemic, tomorrow night 9.00pm..
2 brothers from the Wuhan research centre, where Trump suspects it was engineered, were due to get on Flight MH370 that miraculously disappeared.
Seems they were the guys behind the development of the new strain, and intending to use it as a weapon, someone caught wind of their plans and purposefully downed the plane. Neither of them got on the flight though. It’s really interesting. Have a look at it - it's called:
