That 1290 all settings is a significant fall in the number on Tuesday when the numbers were the same from everywhere else (England hospitals and the other 3 nations all settings - so only without England out of hospital deaths added in.)

So there was a very large add on of out of hospital deaths on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Today it is only 345 versus 635 England out of hospital added on yesterday and 665 added on Tuesday.

There is always some weekend catch up but that looked extreme. And still does.

Possibly there was a lot of post Christmas/New Year catch up as out of hospital deaths may take longer to verify than those in hospital. A delay of a week or two is not hard to imagine.

Funnily enough, was reading about this earlier. Ordered one off Amazon for delivery tomorrow which will be day 5 since my symptoms started so hopefully will give me a bit of an edge if things get worse

Fingers crossed with the figures today it looks as if infection rates are slowly coming down which in turn will see admissions reduce and finally deaths although I think we will have another couple of weeks at least with high death figures.The light at the end of the tunnel is a little more than a pin prick now, not glowing hugely but definitely getting nearer

Makes sense not to pledge anything. It depends upon how quickly they can get vaccines into the majority of the population. Care homes not even completely done yet so we’ve got some way to go.

Great news - we will really start to see falls now in cases i am sure.

I hope so. I’ve come home from work & put the news on and they are reporting we might be in lockdown till summer . Depressing if true

I can't believe I'm doing this, as I can't stand our government, but in their defence you can see how easily that headline has been spun. They literally don't know what will happen in one month, never mind a few, and anyone who says otherwise is lying. There's an element of just playing it by ear sadly. Anyway, I presume they would have been asked if lockdown was gonna end before the summer months, and they said they're not sure what will happen and we'll have to see. And then you get headlines that heavily imply they're considering locking us down in Summer...when that's likely not what they said. Just said they don't know what will happen.

An obvious thing mentioned in here that is way overdue.

You want a party you accept the fine as a fee you charge all who attend.

Most will not pay £800 fines each.

What an irresponsible tweet. Does the MUEN want infections and deaths to be 0 for three weeks running or something before they beg the government to be released from restrictions. The infection is here to stay and whilst it is worse than flu in terms of mortality it looks like we will have to live it moving forward and accept it. And whilst we can all do our bit by wearing masks, socially distancing etc to help keep the R rate down in the future I don't think we can ever eradicate it now. We will see years, possibly decades of mass vaccinations etc but over the next couple of months as more people are vaccinated, better weather returns, R rate is reduced to a more manageable figure for the NHS to cope then we will see restrictions lifted. However I can't see them all lifted at once unfortunately.
