Reporter also just asked about why the vaccination numbers were halved yesterday.

NIcola Sturgeon thinks it was just a lag in collating numbers on Sunday. Bit if not they will catch up today. THere is not a shortage that would cause numbers to fall.
Lots of waffle coming from Sturgeon re vaccinations. The concentrating on care homes argument doesn’t hold water as there is no reason not to be increasing numbers outside of care homes at the same time.

There are numerous complaints about a cumbersome & bureaucratic ordering system even though Scotland has plenty of supply and the numbers up there are static whilst they are increasing rapidly elsewhere.

Speaking at a COVID-19 vaccination site at Barnet Football Club in north London, the PM said: "We're looking at the data as it comes in, we're looking at the rates of infection, as you know the JCVI [Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation] groups 1 to 4 [on the priority list] will be vaccinated by February 15.

"Before then we'll be looking at the potential of relaxing some measures.

people will latch onto that , he never learns
in my book looking at something is not the same as we will be doing. its all in the wording.

No doubt the poisoned dwarf will get her usual easy ride from the media.

Sorry HP, 9 times out of 10 I get the numbers from you - just happened to see them elsewhere first today (your standards are dropping :-)), unfortunately it's not something I'm in any position to make a habit of. I don't think anyone would grudge you a break from it all, I do look forward to your updates though. Don't think there's a poster on here who doesn't appreciate your posts on the figures.
Nothing to apologise for. A few have started doing this in here regularly and a few have said to me privately that they prefer just reading it in Tweets as they are designed to be concise and I guess find my posts harder to read.

I understand that as I have had my writing sharpened by editors for years so I know brevity is not a strength and have no problem at all with that being a factor.

I am not seeking a break or complaining this is happening. I have the time and am very happy to do this but I genuinely have no gripe with this. Nor am I desperate to be any kind of go to source. That was never a plan. I compile it for my own interest daily anyway which I was doing before I even started posting in here but I just did not think it would be necessary to duplicate.

If it does not get posted then I will, of course. If people still want me to do.

Surely that works both ways if it was true, then England as well as being ahead with in the community vaccinations would also be at 95% in care homes and staff like Scotland not 65%.

Do you think Drs surgeries and pharmacies might close on Sunday so fewer vaccinations?
In fact out pharmacy doesn’t open Saturday or Sunday.
She did not mention that as a factor and I presume she would know as appointments are made. You do not just turn up on the day. So only exceptional events on the day like snow might cause centres to shut - as snow did in Wales in recent days

Scotland only started reporting daily numbers on Saturday and Sunday this week so there is no real comparison but she seemed not to think it was an expectation that fewer would be done at weekends. And that certainly has not been true in England.

And hundreds would not have died in care homes because they did not get to them in time as unfortunately may have occurred. I see it is a tough choice. Do not envy anyone having to make it. But we will find out in time I expect which was the correct decision.

Had my first jab Saturday at Davyhulme Medical Centre.
Each car met by a smiling steward ( kin'ell) making sure the occupants were able to exit and walk to the entrance on their own and if necessary assist them. Car park very busy but lots of stewards to keep things moving. Inside, the attitudes were exactly the same, friendly sympathetic and helpful. When I asked the doc who organised the whole thing, she said it was all a local operation, and i expressed my admiration that such a random group could be so brilliant.
Over the years, public events involving the public, have seen the HI-vis clad stewards reach the bottom of the pile in many peoples estimation, which explains my surprise at the experience.
I think many of these Covid marshalls are volunteers, so they've chose to do this. Absolutely brilliant.

What I would say is that your info is better! The ones people post on Twitter doesn't have the 3wks vs 2wks vs 1wk vs today angle. Just this week and last week. Seeing where its come from 3 weeks ago is very useful. It is of course your choice though and im defo sure we all appreciate the hard work :)

Not a problem, I have the time. That is not an issue for me. Will happily keep doing the 3 week v 2 week v last week v today comparisons.

I have not been doing them as often recently as the Christmas/New Year data was screwed up by the way there were multi day totals given that made comparisons largely meaningless on some dates. But we are reaching the end of when that will be a factor, of course.

This slightly surprises me.
Split of vaccines from up to 17th Jan Az 6.6% Pfizer 93.4 % Taken from the chart here.

That 95% makes a good sound bite but what's the actual number of residents vaccinated?

Why does that matter? 95% vaccinated is safer for all the residents and staff than less. As many deaths were in care homes getting them done is the highest priority. I know 80 year olds that are waiting for theirs, but as they are a home and can't go out they are relatively safe waiting for another week, compared to those living in group homes with regular outside professionals visiting.

@Healdplace yes we can see the national numbers elsewhere (e.g. @UKCovid19Stats ) but I very much welcome your intelligent and personal commentary on things so please don't step back from commenting.
Thank you and I was never planning that. Just not duplicating the daily Twitter data posts.

I will as noted still do the 4 weeks v 3 wks v 2 wks v Today daily reports.

Rather surprised that my 46 year old sister who works in sexual health/education in Scotland, but has worked from home constantly since March is being vaccinated on Weds.

Can't argue with care homes being a priority but the roll out across the country isn't good. Like I've said it makes a good sound bite but in reality it's only around 30,000 residents. Obviously there's a few on the isles that aren't so easy to reach but with only the 5% remaining she really should be getting more into elderly at large.
