This is absolutely right. Even in the MEN, if they were to run two identical stories about a potential transfer for Player A, but with one talking about United as the destination and the other talking about us, the former would get something like 7-10 times more hits as the latter. And the same applies to all papers, particularly the nationals. which are run by their SEO's (Search Engine Optimisation). It's simply comemrcial logic as the more hits you get, the more advertising revenue you get.
Even more so, the SEO's know that a story has has "Manchester United" in the headline as opposed to "Man Utd" will get significantly more hits, whereas it doesn't matter that much for us. And of course a negative story about us will attract both Liverpool & United fans, as the Liverpool Echo clearly knows.
However there is also a clear and deliberate attempt, particularly by the US-owned triumvirate who play in red, to discredit us wherever possible. With the rapprochement between the Saudis/UAE and Qatar, maybe the geo-political element of that will die down in time. This is the second and more insidious element of the negative media we constantly seem to get.
And the story about "woeful lack of trust" about the "Man City" ownership was produced by David Maddox of the Sunday Express. It looks like a fully-fledged fake news story. It comes from a survey by a private Monaco-based lobbying group strangely called: Fifa Ethical Regulations Watch. Its board consists mainly of members of an aristrocratic Italian family and quotes a Princess called Felice de Bacci. The survey makes no mention of Manchester City but she does in her quote.
But when you Google her and her family you find numerous articles promoting Qatar and it seems like the family has extensive business interests in Qatar.
It took me two minutes to find this information so that begs a question which is: Is David Maddox totally stupid or does he have another reason for writing an obviously false story?
They’re a bunch of absolute nobodies trying to make themselves relevant in a crowded field. The sort of people who love being on meaningless committees to boost their CVs and their egos
Sums the whole thread/issue up in one sentence that really does.Because a positive story about City will attract mainly our fans but a negative story about City will draw clicks from United and Liverpool fans, thus generating a bigger readership.
I got one too.BBC sent me a survey to complete regarding their service, I gave them my thoughts on their bbc football coverage for online, commentary and match highlights.
Your report missed out one vital fact from the Romans away win.. they only had half the number of soldiers compared to the opposition but managed eventually to scrape the win because, as we all know, 'away Gauls count double in Europe'.. (all right, all right, I'll get me coat..!)If the Media existed 2k years ago
Romans avoid shock away defeat
It emerged late last night that the Romans have been accused of ruining ancient warfare and showing a complete lack of respect for the Britons.
Lining up the most expensive army in History, Emporer Claudius was still able to keep most of his key military personnel on the sidelines.
Key adversaries such as the Goths and Vandals have accused Claudius of reckless spending and financially doping the best legionnaires from Spain,Dalmatia and Morocco. In addition he has also been accused of ruining ancient warfare by the Greeks and Trojans who dominated for years.
The plucky Brits lead by Boudicca took a well deserved battle but the bald Claudius pulled off an undeserved victory with the Worlds most expensively assembled Army. Boudicca told a source that “ anyone could invade Europe with the money the Romans have but wait until the Senate money runs out” she further explained that Rome was a small state with no History.
After invading Gaul and Germania it is believed that invading Britannia didn’t count as they were all weak anyway.
Given the Human Rights abuse and obscene spending (the cavalry alone cost more than entire armies of the three conquered nations) moves are afoot to ban the Romans from future wars.
In an exclusive we can reveal that a secret meeting between key rivals including Vercinggetorix,Attila the Hun, Boudicca and Hannibal is likely to lead to the Romans being referred to CAW -Court for Arbitration in Warfare
Noticeable in the first two graphs that our the interest in us is rising slow and steadily, whereas the Red scum (both of them) spike in interest when they are successful, or looking like they could be successful, proving the point that it's glory-hunters responsible for these figuresThis is the Google Trends results when search terms Liverpool F.C., Manchester United and Manchester City are entered. The first graph covers the last year. The second is from 2004 to date. The highest search volume is used as a reference point.
It is clear from this that United has roughly double the number of Google searches than City, and Liverpool has as many as both City and United combined. You can see why nobody wants to upset the Liverpool fanbase, and to a lesser extent the United fanbase.
Removing City, and adding the three big London clubs you see that they all compare favourably with United over the last five years, with Spurs maybe benefiting from exposure due to their new stadium and the All or Nothing documentary.
The legend relates to the third graph, with City removed. (The maximum comparison is 5 search terms).![]()

I can’t find a direct link to Liverpool FC, but he’s got all the hallmarks of another clueless, plastic, glory hunting, Scouse, Liverpool supporting journalist from Tonbridge.
WEST BROM V MANCHESTER CITY - SAM ALLARDYCE AND PEP GUARDIOLA: THE INNOVATORS WHO FAILED TO EVOLVE
The other end of the table, with Manchester City, is a little different. While Pep Guardiola might not bring in more than one or two names, if he ever wants funding from his benefactors he is granted it. He has cycled through a preposterous number of players, particularly in defence, as he tries to find his perfect setup. He has players like Kevin De Bruyne, Raheem Sterling, Bernardo Silva and Ferran Torres. This summer, he will probably have more of the youngest and most exciting talents available in the market.
Once he had to make do without Messi though, he has not once won the Champions League. He has not advanced football in the way Jurgen Klopp has most recently. City are very good, but they never quite became especially great.(unlike Liverpool, the greatest ever PL team)
But both of them have slowed down, failed to evolve significantly since they came on the scene. With half the season remaining, it is yet to be seen if they can pull off another success.
The ‘club’ aren’t arsed mate. I never even received an acknowledgment of my email below; Following the libellous tweet which I attached.
So what's the BBC's sport departments reason?
No income from clicks. Publicly funded.
Yet every rag FA cup game televised.
How long does the survey take as I got the emailBBC sent me a survey to complete regarding their service, I gave them my thoughts on their bbc football coverage for online, commentary and match highlights.
Where is that from?
