Scotland vaccination update:

437, 900 total first dose of vaccine - total yesterday 22, 498

6060 total second dose of vaccine - total yesterday 522.

Very similar numbers given as on last few days and double yesterday when weather interfered on the Sunday data

An announcement on mandatory hotel quarantine will be made later, a government minister has told Sky News, as he said it was "far too early" for Britons to be thinking about booking a summer holiday.

"There will be an announcement on this issue later on today," vaccines minister Nadhim Zahawi said

Start? There was about 15 pages on this thread late last night that was little more than a Brexit argument disguised as comment on the vaccine issues. All based on an anonymous leak to a German tabloid!
Haha these bloody German tabloids. I wouldve read it honest but theres 800 odd pages in this and not nearly enough pictures for me

Of course they want a massive spend in the UK this summer to kick start the economy.

Northern Ireland data:

16 deaths - 11 hospital 5 care homes

550 cases

23.3% positivity (low for NI)

Weekly rolling total cases 4583 - down from 4921 yesterday.

133 care home outbreaks - down 3

819 patients (down 9)

48 ventilated (down 2)

England hospital deaths up too

875 - with 109 from NW - much on a par with last week - when it was 842 with 103 NW.

More evidence we are at a plateau here.

This is a modest week to week rise in what is one of the two biggest numbers of the week due to weekend catch up.

And NW still not showing any rise in death numbers percentage wise despite being high in case numbers

Starting to wonder if the current outbreak is more virulent and less deadly and if the fact that the NW seems to have focused on all care home residents being vaccinated has begun suppressing the numbers of deaths here. Though the real impact would not be seen just yet.

Something is working because deaths have stayed consistently at around 10 - 12% of England total even as the % of the cases in the NW escalated when the southern regions fell markedly.

May yet be a rise to come. But so far this looks positive news.
Well, not really, they should be going up, bearing in mind the number of cases 3 weeks ago. I believe the slight reduction is down to the 2 Rumatoid Arthritis drugs Tocilizumab and Sarilumab that were approved by MHRA for general roll-out on 7th January.

So total deaths with all settings in England to come (always a big add on midweek though tomorrow is usually the most) is 986. It was 945 last Tuesday

That became 1610 as huge numbers out of hospital in England were added on both Tuesday and Wednesday.

The other 3 nations are already inclusive of out of hospital deaths. Only England reports separately.
