At the moment it's about cumulative daily increases and nothing more, the marathon and not the sprint. We won't be achieving multiple millions per week anytime soon but slowly but surely it's getting there. Once the younger and more mobile populations get involved that figure will jump quickly. I'm in my 30's and it'll be a while for me but when the time comes I'll be out queuing at 3am if I have to.

It's really hard to fathom these numbers, we are already vaccinating in excess of 1 million people per week which on todays numbers is around 10% of the population vaccinated every 6 weeks. This means that the virus WILL essentially be eliminated as a risk to vulnerable people within the next month. The most vulnerable age group (80+) should already be virtually done.

In 3 months time and if all goes well then we will have options and although we must be cautious, there are options to get things open and to keep them open providing the vaccines are holding well. There is still efficacy and long term questions to be asked but I really do think we have turned the corner and we won't ever see thousands dying per day ever again.

It's truly incredible what the vaccine suppliers, NHS and all involved are doing and have done, they deserve so much credit.

The CEO of AZ reckons he's got a winner? Who needs data? Or field results?

When we say it's a marathon not a sprint I think that refers to the pandemic as a whole.

But if there's anything I've picked up from the last twelve months, there's seemingly no amount of reversals and setbacks that will stop people from counting chickens before they are hatched.

Build belief, watch it crash, repeat ad lunacy - scientists, or physicians, thee are not!

Hoping, and waiting for the results to emerge is the only way this is going goes from here on. Surely it's possible to maintain hope without hyping things up.

Reading tonight that Germany has now formally demanded that the EU block the export of all Covid-19 vaccines produced within the EU. I know this was being discussed on here last night, didn't think we had quite reached that stage though. Interesting to see where things go from here but I know the EU are meeting with AZ tomorrow so hopefully things can get smoothed over a bit.
