I used to hate him, couldn't stand him and said some right nasty things about him on BM in the past 15 years or so

However that was because of what and who he represented. Since his retirement I have seen a much nicer side to him.

One was helping Paul Lake out, he showed a kindness, when he had no need to. He's also done unpaid work for the NHS in gratitude for his CVA treatment and heard other nice stories.

Another thing that strikes me is you never heard any bad "out of work" stories about him, apart from the diarrhoea story and some pissed up tramp. You'd expect at least several for such a nasty character, yet nothing, maybe I'm wrong and someone will say he ate their puppy? Joking apart if you look at Jose, you'll understand where I'm coming from, with his eye poking and sexism.

He's not the devil we like to think he is, in fact he seems a genuine guy, a winner and someone I wished we'd had, sadly he went to them and the rest is history.

I don't regret our past, but growing up with just one failed FA cup attempt was a bit, well, shit.
I'm sure he has a nice side to him and I remember the way he supported Paul Lake but for every nice analogy there are several nasty, negative ones such as helping cover up his Son beating the crap out of the mother of his grandchildren, the spiteful way he recalled players from Preston after they sacked his son because he was doing a shit job there and lying to the Police about needing a shit after being caught red handed breaking the law amongst others.
I don't wish any harm on the guy but from what I've seen over the years he's certainly no saint.

It was character building

Are you surprised?
The bitter whisky nosed twat wouldn't even mention us by name the season we pipped them to the title that they think they have a divine right to win.
Once a bitter twat, always a bitter twat but it's delicious knowing that he has to sit back and watch our success which is tearing him apart inside whilst his old club continue to be mediocre also rans despite spending similar sums in wages and transfer fees since he left.

I obviously don't know the man on a personal level so my only perception of him is as a football manager and his interviews and public persona.

Great manager of that there is no doubt but the media brushes under the carpet that the rags spent a fortune prior to him and during his tenure to win the title. During that spending they often broke the British transfer fee, I think Robson and Ferdinand, maybe Rooney being three? Either way they spent shitloads. I'm not even sure he alone knocked Liverpool off their perch, their reign at the top may have been on the wane when he came in. The class of 92 we never hear the end of gloss over the massive amounts of money they spent, there is no doubt though that was a once in a generation occurrence that also saved them plenty of money. Also during his tenure he had the champions league money nailed on for years that was a closed shop and meant the top four had a huge advantage over the rest of the league.

Anyway back to the man himself. As a City fan I hated him. He missed no opportunity to belittle our club and gloat in our misery in spite of us being of no real threat to the rags until the takeover. I'm not sure when that despised banner first appeared but I'm guessing it could have started on his watch. He was a bully and like all bullies he revelled in picking on people he perceived to be weaker than him. Once we no longer were and he realised he was going to receive more bloody noses than he gave out he left the playground. Mancini will always have a special place in my heart for the 6-1 and the way he went toe to toe on the touchline with him in the return fixture. He faced down the bully and defeated him.

I hope he has many more healthy and coherent years ahead and we continue to dominate both here and abroad, he has a lot more dishes of karma to eat yet.

“The greatest trick the devil pulled was convincing people he didn’t exist”

Bravo Sir, post of the day.

Good luck mate, I know a few who had mild side effects.
Might be worth taking paracetamol beforehand just in case?

Some were okay some had sore arms or flu like symptoms. I was surprised to get the call as I'm not high risk or in a much higher age bracket so I guess it's a bonus.

Certainly no saint is putting it mildly. Doing the odd nice thing whilst being a thoroughly repugnant individual still makes you a thoroughly repugnant individual.
