Calling all Tories. Why do you Tory?

Onto page 4 and not one answer of note.

Up to know it is definitely fitting my thesis.
Is your thesis based on people with a political ideology that are not open to understanding why others may think and vote differently than yourself?
Send me a copy sounds interesting, although I won’t read it as I have already decided I don’t agree.

I support RCD Espanyol

Catalonia - perfect. I shall find a highly political forum and post incessantly about sport in Venezuela and how Witton Albinos bar prices have gone up.
Seriously if l lived where you did it would be to escape British politics and posting about them even on a politics forum would be the last thing l would want to do.
Come to rainy UK and l will look after your house in Paderne.

A policy with the benefit of hindsight that all but destroyed the social fabric of many housing estates, depleted the housing stock, led to a massive increase in homelessness, a banking crash and which now makes it virtually impossible for young uns to get a home and means they have to pay sky high rents to owners of former council houses.

Thatcher the fucking idiot denied Councils permission to spend the reciepts taken on new housing to replace those sold thinking the private sector would take up the slack. It was nothing short of a free market catastrophe unless you had the readies to buy for cash of course, then it was the birth of I am alright Jack society.

It was quite possibly one of he worst policy decisions of the 20th century as it sucked demand out of the economy which led to further job losses, higher debts and wage slavery, then the housing bubble and bang goes the economy and years of austerity follow, leading to under resourced public services and health provision and then 100,000 people die.

Thanks for taking part :)
Did Maggie circulate with Peter Rachman ?

I don’t agree with big government
I don’t agree in job creation for the sake of it
I agree the individual is a better at spending money than governments
I agree in the rule of law
I agree in protecting those who cannot project themselves
I agree with the concept that those who can do, and those who can’t are looked after
I agree with the principles of free care at point of delivery
I agree immigration is good, I do not agree unlimited immigration is good as it can overrun infrastructure
I do not agree that the best way to equality is by finding the lowest bar and moving everyone to it

That’ll do as a starting point

For me the Tory’s tick all of them to some extent or another, Labour some but not others, the other parties are fairly academic in our system

No, I want to know why people vote Tory, up to now there has been few answers as to why.

I want to understand what influences people have and why they vote for the Tories as a result. I.E Are they Hayekians, neo-liberals, Burkeans, is Adam Smith their influence.

I have loads of reasons which I have stated here many times as to why i am on the left of politics. Up to now I have heard on this thread few reasons why people vote as they do.

Witton Albinos, are they an all white team? :))

I live in Cheadle, I stay in Paderne when I can. BTW Paderne has a Communist councillor. I am currently in Cheadle enjoying the rain and looking forward to watching the true love of my life MCFC tomorrow on the box.

Voting tory doesn't necessarily make you a "Tory". I think the majority of people vote for the party they think will either:

a) make Britain slightly better
b) not make Britain a lot worse

Radical ideas don't resonate well with a largely risk-averse electorate and Labour got that badly wrong with the last two leaders and talk of Marxism, suspicious alliances (eg IRA) and all that, whether true or not. Starmer is better but he comes across as very negative as does Lisa Nandy and pretty much anyone else who represents them. Whilst this is understandable with Brexit and Covid, they have to concentrate on their image or they'll not get back in next time either.

As for heroes, I'd struggle to name many politicians but one thing I would say is that I am wary of any politician who describes themselves as a follower of any -ism.
