Running thread

Running tech. We've touched on this before, but I thought I'd drop in a recommendation for a new piece of kit I've just bought.

My runs including warm downs are between 45 minutes and 150 minutes, and this gives me plenty of time to catch up on audio books. I've used a number of MP3 players, but they are all a bit hit and miss. It's possible to download from Audible into MP3 format, but it's tiresome and time consuming.

Phones are too big to carry round in my opinion. I've been using the SanDisk Sports Clip, which is ok. It is small, but not easy to navigate or load, and it doesn't have particularly good storage capacity.

My problems have just been resolved with this little beauty - the Sony Walkman NW-A105, with an HDMI memory card inserted. It is an MP3 player, but it has a touch screen interface and Android operating system. It can therefore be loaded up with your normal Android apps, such as Audible and Spotify, and can hold all your favourite books and music. Bluetooth to my running headphones is a synch. It charges by USB3. It tucks away into my running belt, nice and compact. I had it going for 2 hours the other day, and it went from 100% to 75% charge.

It's not the cheapest, but an absolutely brilliant piece of kit. Highly recommended, but maybe not for tri-athletes.

Sony are kings of MP3 players like that. I had a NW series when Oled screens had just come out. Amazing kit as Sony buds are superb too.

Hit my 400km for January target a day early today, buzzing with that
Blimey that's a lot. Are you training for a particular event with such a high mileage? About 50 miles a week would be the most for me at peak marathon training. I once managed 60 miles in a week which was a bit much for me

Not really training for anything at the minute mate, god knows when there will be any actual events anyways, Im just getting a base together and then will build up from that when and if the time comes, quite fancy an ultra but will see what happens

Day 762 in a row.

ran 6.5 miles to my mates house who has lent me his hair clippers.
Hope you wash them first... might have used them on his bollocks!!

10k today in 54:30... that’s the 200k done this month. Feb is a month of hill sprints, step sessions and strength work, not worrying about distance.

200k in a month is a crazy amount.

just under 6.5k a day! Nice
Cheers mate. I’ll be honest I’ve really been struggling with my pace, seem to be getting slower and weaker each run.

Decided to go back to basics so today it’s been a gentle warm up, 10th of a mile hill session x 5 with 10th mile walk back down followed by a cool down. Going to just do the hill repeats and strength work this month to get some stamina back.

I've rested myself since Wednesday. Going on a run tonight though with some new running accessories.

Really want to be doing 6k minimum each time now.

Did an 18km run yesterday with the whole mantra run slow to run fast at the forefront of my mind. Find it harder in many ways to quicker running as it feels almost unnatural and painful but the science says it's the way to go.

That's 117km in December and 140km in January after doing very little running in the proceeding 5 months (no running).

Going to avoid pushing for 100km this month and do some more hill sessions and some long easy runs to just focus on strength and stamina.
