Celtic thread 2020/21

Don't know where else to post this and hate to interrupt the bickering, but AVB just resigned from Marseilles and said it was specifically because they signed Olivier Ntcham.

Hahaha straight from the far right populist/Trump playbook. Of course those sorts of songs are wrong, goes without saying.
I’ll let you in on a secret: some City fans still sing horrible songs about people dying as well. Does that make you personally a scumbag?
This is a football forum, I suggest you take your fairly transparent hostility towards people of a different nationality and religion to yours somewhere else
Haha I’m on the left politically pal but nice assumption. The old firm in general are bunch of c***s but this lot are far worse in my personal opinion. It’s nothing to do with religion or nationality.

Thankfully the majority have cut the Munich shit out but I do see your point.

No person who wasn't sick woukd back either the Rigby or Munich songs. But, you cast all of us as if we supported that. Your myopic selective retention has been pointed out to you and basically you have to accept that if we are all scumbags, so are you.

Only a fucking idiot would tar millions of people because a some are despicable. Let's be clear here, I'm no fucking scumbag and rake exception to your categorisation. As for you being Left wing? Fucking act like it then. Leave the hate to the right. If you hate the guys who sing those songs, say that. That's ok, I hate them too, but don't include me in it. Do you remember what history has taught us about demonising a whole people?

Who would you actually keep of the current squad, Magicpole or other Celtic fans?
Ajer, Julien, McGregor, Forrest.....not too many others

Interested to see the response to this as well. I'd imagine Ajer will get sold as he will enter the final year. So I think your probably talking about Julian, McGregor, Soro, Turnbull, Forrest, perhaps Ateji? Not sure how they are rating any of the loan players?

Yea definitely Soro and Turnbull forgot about them

Ajeti looks a stone or two overweight. A lot of the squad do, you would think that most of them would improve with a proper manager in place. Interesting that Ronnie Deila said that when he took over Celtic Van Dijk was 1 and a half stone heavier than what he was when he left for Southampton, and also said the players in general weren't fit

Like I touched on above I was wrong to tar everybody as the same so apologies for that.

I shouldn’t have said all fans are scum and being completely honest my animosity probably stems from the green brigade. They appear, on the face of it to be Celtics version of the 1894 group at City. The difference is the 1894 group are there to support City. Clearly they don’t represent a whole fanbase but they seem to do and say as they please.

Thought you were gonna say the difference is the Green Brigade can create an atmosphere :)

We can all go over the top. You put your hands up to that and I respect you for doing it. The Green Brigade again aren't Celtic. I have a mile long list of differences but sometimes they get it right. Re Lawell and Lennon they are spot on.

I thought he was a decent player, clearly AVB isn’t a fan. He’ll probably be alright in the French league.
Ntcham is an excellent player but doesn't have the heart required. When he's 8n the mood he's great but that is a four time a season run.

Lennon surely in line for a new contract? He just won a treble ffs

Of religious intolerance and sectarian bigotry ? yes they can.
They're more political. They never make sectarian statements because many protestants support Celtic. They support a united Ireland and the Republican cause and guys like Connoly were Scottish Protestants. I woukd prefer they take up their politics elsewhere and it fucks me off listening to them singing about that rather than the team and have argued ling and hard with them about that.

Not exactly a ringing endorsement is it?

"We finished the transfer window with a player we signed [Ntcham]. It is a decision which is not taken by me, I have nothing to do with it, I learned it this morning by the press. He is a player for whom I said no. I submitted my resignation because of it."
It's absolutely brutal.

Still it's not as bad as Jack Byrne, who turned down Championship clubs to go and sign for APOEL Nicosia in Cyprus because Mick McCarthy was the manager. Less than 48 hours later, Mick got sacked. Now he's managing in the Championship.

But then within the last week, you've said you don't want a person who "looks too presbyterian" to be Celtic's new CEO. That's surely more political than about the team.

I quite literally groaned out loud when I saw Byrne had gone to Cyprus. Unbelievable decision. Took just two days to backfire as well!

Jesus Christ. Poor guy. Was doing really well over in Ireland too, wasn't he? In the national squad and everything.

Yep. He got subbed at half-time the other day for APOEL. No idea of the context, but it has short six month stint before returning in the summer written all over it. At least he'll get a nice tan I guess.
