Burnley (A) Post Match Thread

It’s very noticeable watching how City players “don’t run as much” when in possession after Peps comments on this at the weekend
When out of possession there’s a significant change in tempo and movement which is good

We are managed by a God. The word genius doesn't do him justice.

We are blessed.

The best owners of any sports organisation in the world. Past or present.
The best business model of any sports organisation in the world. Past or present.
The best manager this country has ever seen. Past or present.

Ferguson was an amazing manager. Not going to deny it. But he had one set tactic which he could tweak at times slightly, as well as having the entire English football establishment doing his bidding. (4,4,2 - play down the wings, cross into the box, appeal for a penalty). It's why they were an embarrassment in Europe where they were reffed more honestly. 2 CL wins in 26 years , and one of those on penalties, the other after being twatted for 89 minutes. Lucky.

We are living in rare times blues. Enjoy every moment.

Apart from his little brain fart Ederson was again like this for 99% of the match

Jeez that guy's rushed off his feet.

If we can just unearth another Sergio, the way we are playing defence wise now we could be a real champions league team

He’s the first commentator ever to irritate the shit out of me. Too much detail, silly pronounciation and that weird accent. I noticed it last time he did is too. He’s like Clyde Tyldesley’s annoying alter ego.

With regards the Jesus pen, it’s the classic scenario that VAR has created to screw us and favour the rags and dippers. IMO it was soft, but the key is that the ref didn’t give it and never had any intention of giving us anything he didn’t have to. Consequently var won’t overrule. However, absolutely nailed on that the rags and dips would both have had the pen given to them in that scenario and of course var wouldn’t overrule as they’d say contact but soft and entitled to go down.

It‘s bollocks, and set up to screw us and keep pigmol’s brown envelopes still coming through.
Totally agree that there's a problem with the "clear and obvious error" idea, in that it depends too much on the what the referee initially gives, which allows for referee bias. However, I still think it's better to have VAR than not, as it makes a penalty decision slightly less vulnerable to bias.

So, imho: current VAR > no VAR, but VAR done properly >> current VAR.

Agreed. I was almost begging for that shrill woman commentator to take over from him at one point.

Frustratingly easy win tonight. Frustrating because we were two up and in total control and we went into cruise control instead of going for a big number.

Frustrating also because we were so wasteful in front of goal.

However, three more points and another clean sheet. Let’s keep it going.
