we wont have another surge in deaths, the virus will still be arround but vacinations will mean it will just be a mild illness with few people hospitalised. The vaccine is a game changer.
That is what we said about the flu vaccine , they are a game changers but thousands die every year of flu and will from covid as well

Todays 571 England hospital deaths were aged between 17 and 100.

29 (aged from 36 to 98) had no previously known conditions.

120 Midland, 110 East, 87 London, 85 NE/Yorkshire. 67 South East, 64 North West, 38 South West.

Let me help you then.

It clearly shows that even with vaccination, a further spike is possible peaking higher than the recent one.

But who needs experts when you can instead agree with a post here that tells you what you want to hear.
ive read the results of the vaccine trials, they are astonishing. If they were less affective i wouldn't be so confident.

Why resort to snide remarks just because someone disagrees with you and has a more optimistic viewpoint?

36 is so young with no underlying health conditions

Want it to get worse?

Cobblers, and you know it.

I want us to respond to this using knowledge, not wishful thinking.

Wishing the virus to go away won't work. I would have thought the last year has taught us that.

We had no vaccine last year.

Therefore this year clearly wont be like last year.

I don't believe it will be worse like you are claiming I firmly believe it will be significantly better.

It is not about the vaccine , that is fantastic and a credit to all involved , so far the best estimate of immunity is months , we dont know whether after a good summer we have to start again , as has been said you have to read the science and not expect it all to be over till we get the answers to the big questions

It is not doomongering or wanting it to get worse , no fucker wants that , it is reading and listening to the people whose job it is to know

Heres to a carefree summer but being sensible so we go into next winter in good shape

I haven't said it will be worse. Indeed, I've said this summer should be better than last.

I have said there is *potential* for a third spike higher than the second just passed. If we open up too fast.

And it's not what I think, it's an expert report. Have a read - worth paying attention to experts I think.

Regional Update:

South

East down 185 to 1615

London down 322 to 2351

South East down 254 to 2131

South West down 127 to 1077

Everywhere falling by a few hundred as has been the case this week

Midlands

East - stable around 1728 last3 days

West - up 18 to 2292 and like East Midlands remarkably static.

North

North East down 81 to 750

Yorkshire down 31 to 1635

And North West down 51 to 2489.

The North and Midlands seem to have flatlined and as you can see all are at best only a tiny few down. As the 7 day Pop score table for the regions posted earlier now updated shows.

London is now out of the top 3 along with all the other southern regions that have dominated it for weeks which is now headed by West Midlands, East Midlands and North West as the most infected - though falling too - just more slowly - which as you can see above from data 5 days on from that table has not changed.

I agree we're over the worst- *if* we're sensible.

And you ignoring expert opinion that a further spike is possible tells me you're wilfully ignorant.
No hospitalisations for those who had one dose of the AZ vaccine.
Very high 67% reduction in transmissivity after one dose.
The best vaccination rate in Europe by far with all vulnerable people and over 50s vaccinated with one dose within 4mths.
Initial results indicate that the vaccines will still offer some protection to mutations and are likely to be able to be adapted further to make them more effective relatively quickly.

Perhaps it is your good self that is ignoring the expert opinion?

That's surprising as the tourism industry in the country would have been decimated.
Yes they’ve done a brilliant job. Maybe it’s more New Zealanders holidaying in their own Country. They are very self sustaining in many other way and we’ve seen footage of Kiwis attending festivals and big sporting events in their tens of thousands.
