Thought I’d be running next week given my recuperation over the past week but no chance.
I can feel the blighter sat heavy in my lungs.

Cleaned my flat head to toe yesterday & was absolutely wiped afterwards, all night in fact.
Was my birthday weekend and managed a glass of wine and that was it.
Perhaps work was quite heavy (it’s computer based but the brain ears energy & there’s quite a few meetings).

The head of my dept had it bad back in October and although he was running within a month he told me it’s still mentally affecting him.

I feel it more when it gets cold....like everyone.
Made me think about the future quite a bit too. When I eventually rebuild fully & get myself a place of my own I’ll be researching ‘advanced insulation processes’.
This flat is so inefficient in that regard (it’s damp, the sills drenched in water & the wall heaters are like breathing in dust).
I’d imagine this hasn’t helped my chest.
Stop pushing it ,you need to rest not flog yourself ! It will take as long as it takes to recover

You really need to take it easy as soon as you feel bad. You only get better by resting as soon as you feel tired/bad. I reckon it added a month to my recuperation by trying to do too much. All you do by not resting is trigger Inflamation followed by over reaction by your immune system. The longer your now overactive immune system gets a break the quicker you will heal.

Remember the outrage when footballers celebrated a win after the game ... meanwhile

View attachment 9845

Yes I had an argument with a family member about footballers, it is always footballers they pick on. Young in a low risk group of men, fit, tested countless times and in a bubble. If they can be in close contact all game a quick hug after a goal isn't any different. It's the same with the "It's a disgrace the money footballers get compared to nurses " brigade. What about actors and other highly paid sportsmen?

Its definitely happening up & down the country
People last minute are being contacted to come & have the vaccine that same day, now that to me suggests lots cant get there, people just aint wanting it or these people are not bothering
Not saying last minute .com is wrong by the way it should be given to someone rather than slinging it down the drain
It may not be at the centres you work in but go look on Internet & you will see this happening

Nottingham for 1 example they gave police officers the chance to have the vaccine on a day of huge no shows costing ££££££ if thrown away

There needs to be better contact from the individual & hospital or surgery so we get these numbers up
Please don't think for 1 minute I'm calling out the surgery's or vaccine centres they are doing a wonderfull job as the figures show but imo we are seeing loads going to waste although a very small percentage overall
My work partner is 47yrs old with no illnesses. His sister works in a chemist and asked him if he would want a vaccine if there are any left over at the end of the day . Of course he said yes . On Friday afternoon he got a text of his sister saying the chemist had had a email of NHS saying no unused vaccines should be given out to friends & family but returned .

absolutely and don’t forget it’s only football that has bad officiating and cheating players. No other sport of course.

Wales vaccinations:

First dose total 589, 622 - 32, 625 yesterday - was 33. 955 day before

Second dose 2471 - 135 yesterday - was 836 day before.

Asked if the UK's decision to space out vaccine doses has been vindicated, Dr David Nabarro says this is a new virus and "we're learning all the time".

He adds that it is "wonderful" that the UK's "bravery" in taking such a decision appears to have been vindicated so far.

Dr Nabarro says the World Health Organisation will "look again" at its dosing advice in light of the British experience.

Wales data:

28 deaths - was 34 last week

461 cases - was 605 last week

At 3% positivity (though it will be double that in old style terms as that will include ALL tests)

Weekly Pop 119 - down from 123 yesterday and 150 last week.

Certainly good numbers now from Wales. I stopped posting daily info here for Swansea a few days ago for the poster who asked as it was pointless since their cases are now tiny every day. Well out of the mess they were in with a Pop score lower than everywhere in Greater Manchester - even Trafford.

Was watching the golf yesterday and I’m left scratching my head as to how the US is seeing a decline in case numbers. The lockdown they have is bare minimum, sports seem to go ahead with a certain amount of spectators and yet we still ended up being hit far worse.

I can't speak for the whole country, but I can speak for whats happening in the Stockport area under the instructions of the NHS and local chief medics.

Under this instruction a full days vaccine allowance is pre planned and then at lunchtime an assessment of what might be left is calculated and then the reserve list is called for the last hour to use up mostly surplus supplies not the pre planned injections.

Very little if any vaccine is wasted as whatever isn't opened can be used in the following weeks clinic.

This is NOT a political point I must make clear but I was delighted to see Andy Burnham this morning recognise on Sky that tiers do NOT work and urging the government not to exit lockdown into them.

As you may recall I have long believed that the tiers are less effective than a same rules for all lockdown and imo are partly why we ended up with wider variant spread than we should have done. So they will have produced a longer lockdown now than would have been needed if we had not gone through this silly game of assigning doggy treats by way of a lower tier - resulting in the variants just going next door instead.

Burnham told Sophy Ridge that tiers create division and confusion (I would add tier envy hence migration of infection from higher to lower number areas to that too).

He added that 'at no point' did it sharply reduce numbers in GM compared with areas not put in higher tiers.

Indeed as I have mentioned many times - it likely drove the better parts of the NW to end up worse off because they had fewer restrictions so attracted rule breakers.

Being in GM imo higher tiers definitely has helped mitigate this wave's impact here. By accident. Not design. So we are falling more slowly as we had less far to fall than places in the NW that were in lower tiers and went sky high (such as Merseyside).

But he is right we should phase exit from lockdown on a national basis not through tiers as the government still say we will. As that is like sticking your hand in the fire after burning it because I must do so again now my hand feels cold.

No doubt we could have done much better in dealing with covid and we should still be much tighter on our border controls. But I think it would be nigh on impossible to have behaved like NZ have. People who think it possible show a lack of understanding of economics and human aswell as physical geography.
I mentioned New Zealand because some posters struggle to understand that it’s not a straight trade off between between hewlth and welfare and the economy. It’s not about comparing Zew Zealand with anyone in terms of geography but yes it is partly about economics. Countries that introduced restrictions later tend to have economies that were hit harder. I hope some posters who were struggling now understand this point.

I know there are some refusing to have the vaccine and might need persuasion but I fear Boris is risking our economy if he is resorting to offering a jag to all now when you get vaccinated.

No wonder all those celebs and aging movie stars were quick off the mark to post pictures of themselves being vaccinated and there is a web site just to show you which have already had it.

Not seen any of them in their jag yet. Maybe it is like PPE - coming soon.

(PS - before the arguments start - this is, obviously, NOT being serious and I know it was just a mistype).
Cultural differences:) 21 years in Scotland where it's a jag not a a jab. I've picked up the lingo from my children. Oddly my 23 year old born in England daughter is the most Scottish sounding person you'll hear, whereas my Scottish born 19 year old son, sounds more northern English than even me.Both say jag though.

Spot on it's always been a nonsense and smacks of the government playing schoolteacher "Behave or your in detention! Look at that nice class next door, they behaved and are going home early."

It causes division instead of unity and is almost impossible to enforce. We do this all together.
