Erling Haaland

How on earth can they afford both of them?

Haaland 100m?
Mbappe must be 200m
It’s not even worth discussing because it’s obviously unreliable. I can post here a number of lies the same journalist has posted in the recent past that didn’t materialize. He wants people to talk and we shouldn’t give him that

It’s not a source, it’s a mouthpiece from their propaganda paper in Madrid. There is zero reason to believe anything a guy like this says and the same way in Barcelona there are similar guys that you can flat out ignore as they are just replicating crap or making it up. Again, if they want Mbappe now, what they would want out is the message that they DON’T want him now.

For once I would love our fans to behave like we can sit on the same table as any other club to compete for a player. We have the money, the status and the coach to do so. What’s lacking is that mentality in some fans
There's nothing wrong with my mentality. I rate haaland very highly and would like him to join us. All I'm doing is pointing out our transfer activity historically. We don't get into bun fights for top ranking players. If a target of ours is offered silly money by a rival, then we let them go because it suggests that their main or only ambition is money.

I think Madrid have told Mbappe to run his contract down so they can get him on the cheap. Madrid and Barca have spent 50 years hoovering up all the best talent - even when they don't have the cash... they still think its their god given right.

Our pursuit of Mbappe a few years back with 120 million is proof that we are willing to go after players with money. When people say we don’t do transfers with the money that will take to get Haaland, it leaves me wondering what kind of players were even available in the last few years that would cost as much money and in positions that we were in need of. Maybe we didn’t do business of that magnitude because the opportunity didn’t present itself

Most of the time this approach has worked out well. I imagine for Haaland we'd go higher because of his position and age. 63m for Rodri, a 23 year old DM. It's not beyond imagination to me that the same method would calculate 100m for a 20 year old CF. I wouldn't be surprised if we shied away but I wouldn't be surprised if we tabled it either.

We will go higher there is only one factor in this transfer we can pay the wages and the fee required ...where does the player himself want to go ? he will have many options.Hopefully those discussions have been had and we know wants and if he is interested

Exactly. A few years ago. As it stands now, haaland and mbappe are the most sought after.

Why?
Clubs pay the transfer fee over the period of the player's contract.
5 year contract for the player
5 years to pay the transfer fee
The transfer fee is amortised over the players contract, due to the depreciation of the contract and the way the tax law works. This doesn’t mean that they don’t have to pay all upfront. If the selling club wants all the money in one hit, then it’s their prerogative, and they call the shots.

Where did I claim that?

He's not going to go from (a claimed) £100,00 a week to KdB money with anyone on his next transfer, that would leave any club with absolutely nowhere to go in renegotiations and would seriously piss off an entire playing staff. He's just 20 years old after all.

A club would be getting him at a 'discount' in his own mind, even at the premium needed to be paid this summer.

He sits tight for another 12 months he would be entitled to negotiate for the middle ground between the £65m buyout and his true market value.

It is no concern of Haaland's that a club now wants to buy him this summer.

He would be well within his right to demand KDB money be factored, not to mention a hefty signing fee.

Marcus Rashford earns £375k a week, these are the numbers people like Haaland will compare himself to.

I'd say if we could get Haaland and Messi for combined wages of £1m-per-week, the club would still be doing very well?

We have been fortunate to buy key players that have given us ten years service and delivered the goods.

However, the market has moved on out of all recognition for the truly elite players during this time, hence why we have been able to tread water for a considerable while longer than some of our rivals, courtesy of Dave, Vinny, Sergio, Yaya and Zabba.

We have not had to come correct to the market for a long time, so could avoid the 'going rate' for comparable talents and replacements.

We are moving into a new cycle of strategic planning and that is going to take the type of cash that will undoubtedly make eyes water for plenty.

If somone is good at their job, you pay them whatever it takes, should it be able to solidify a dominant position in the marketplace.

Our club has done an amazing job this last decade limiting their exposure due to signing players just below the waterline that had a high ceiling to improve and ultimately become world class at City.

Now is not the time to shirk, nor feel compelled to defend City's supposed self-righteous stance on not overpaying, how we would be perceived to the wider public for turning on the oil taps again.

The time has come. The financial reality is upon us, we must use our strength to take advantage during the current economic climate, when some of our rivals are weaker.

If we have to pay £500k a week to both Messi and Haaland, then we must not hesitate.

And that also goes for making sure KDB and Sterling are given hefty increases, you find the monies.

Buying such players would cost you £150m a pop, so show them the fucking money.

I can tell you the Club are very excited about some of the stuff they have on the go for the summer, there is an acceptance we have been biding our time, but strike we now will.

I can't wait.

If he’s going to use Rashford = 375k/week as a yardstick, he’ll be wanting about 850k/week.

If we lose Sergio Fernandinho because there contracts up there wagers be around 700/800k a week maybe get Mendy of the books sell Mahrez our yearly wage bill won’t take a big hit.
