N. Ireland data:

4 deaths - was 4 last wk

187 cases - was 234 last wk

17.3% positivity

Weekly cases rolling total 2079 - down from 2140 yesterday - was 2095 last wk

44 care home outbreaks - down 3 on yesterday - was 79 last wk.

386 patients - down 8 on yesterday - was 477 last wk

41 ventilator icu - up 1 on yesterday - was 49 last wk.

Because the case numbers week to week by chance are very similar in the case plateau we seem to be in (so only changed by a tiny bit wk to wk) here are some very interesting data from the N Ireland 7 day rolling cases:

These are the test positives last Mon v those today in the age categories:-

Ages 0-19/ 20 - 39 / 40 - 59/ 60 - 79 / 80 PLUS

Last Mon from past 7 days:- 231 / 773 / 675 / 302 / 111

This Mon from last 7 days:- 238 / 835 / 656 / 268 / 82

It is immediately obvious that the two youngest age groups have gone up (the 20 - 39 by most) whilst the three age ranges 40 and above have fallen.

The 60 - 79 group is down by 11% and the Over 80s by 26%.

This is more interesting evidence possibly suggesting the vaccine may be reducing cases in the older age ranges here.

the damage being done to kids is huge. They have to go back.
The gov and advisors are well aware that the return to normality involves risk. No doubt the fall in infections will slow or even rise a little. But we cannot stay locked down for ever, the economy and our social well being need looking after too. Kids back to school is a risk, but, oh, how the kids need it. No argument with this policy from me.

Has Boris made any mention of face nappy policy? How much longer are people going to have to wear these ridiculous things?

24 - 30 Jan 675 - 691 - 658 - 618 - 650 - 596 - 513

31 - 6 Feb 524 - 534 - 532 - 534 - 435 - 444 - 418
