Premier League ( midweek ) Games 2/3/4 March

We complain about VAR decisions but that one is up there with the Bamford finger pointing offside earlier this season.
It was 100% the right decision by VAR.

It is an offence if a player:

  • deliberately touches the ball with their hand/arm, including moving the hand/arm towards the ball
  • scores in the opponents’ goal directly from their hand/arm, even if accidental, including by the goalkeeper
  • after the ball has touched their or a team-mate’s hand/arm, even if accidental, immediately:
    • scores in the opponents’ goal
    • creates a goal-scoring opportunity

The state of that

As the laws/rules stand at present, but it doesn’t seem sensible so the laws/rules should be adjusted to take into account these incidents.
If the Fulham player had his hand up in the air in an unnatural position it would have hit his side and goal allowed.
Because it was where its meant to be the goal is disallowed.

Genuine question. If Fulham passed it around the box a few times after the handball would it still have disallowed?
Possibly not. Would depend if they classed it as the same phase of play. Its got so many flaws to the law, the biggest one being if it was the other way round and the attacker hit the defenders hands it would not be a pen.

That Chelsea lineup doesn't have much going forward on paper, a back 5 and Kante and jorginho. hopefully Tuchel's tactics do Liverpool
