The Etihad Pitch

I'm guess he mentioned the rags pitch as it's in the same area give or take the name of the City so would be under the same weather conditions.

He's probably pissed off it's not suitable for our type of play.
Well, I guess that is the literal answer to my question.

Now I'll say it again but WHY mention them at all, like when he prattles on about their great fucking history.

That kind of WHY mention them.

:)

We been accused of having a shit pitch to have an advantage over the other teams yet?

Could they not play the remaining games at the academy stadium like real Madrid are doing whilst we sort the pitch out?

Think the pitch will be looking better by the time we play there again, 10 April.

It would be difficult for VAR and hawkeye purposes, but must be possible to set up.

You need special permission to change grounds mid season, bot sure if we would get if if the pitch is fine according to the ref.

Guarantee Pep would rather us play on a quagmire than play on the academy stadium. Think of how open that place is and think of what a great leveller wind can be in football

Although the pitch looked a bit off I though it was more down to the the way the grass was holding moisture and reflecting light in different directions. It certainly didn't play like a bad pitch. At no point did I see the ball bobble or deviate.

Compare and contrast to the Maine Road pitch in the late 80's when Stan Gibson and his team had to work round the clock to get the pitch anywhere near playable on match day.
What I noticed was the pitch noticeably slowing the ball down. Ever since moving to the stadium, it's been a bowling green of a pitch - similar quality to the one at the hemmorrhoids stadium.

The level of moisture on the pitch certainly effects the speed of the ball. A lot of teams will water the pitch before the game and at half time in order to try and stop teams like City playing fast flowing football along the ground.

Isn't it the opposite, sure I've read of teams letting the pitch dry out to try and slow down the ball passes over the surface when they play us.

There's a full month between our last game at the Etihad and the next one

Be very surprised if it's not sorted by then

ADUG; ruining pitches since.....
Rules for football in the Gulf States late 60s to early 70s
1. Water and roll sand while sun is not too hot
2. Kick off about 0800.
3. Play until ball will not roll. An hour at max.
4. End of match
5 Late breakfast

It looks really bad. Heavy and slippery with tufts sticking up. Has it ever been this bad? Felt it affected our performance a lot
