The Conservative Party

I just saw a jovial quip about the flag size was all...nothing else mate.

I’ve still not seen anything that proves that otherwise.

I just knew those that use the term
‘Snowflakes’ would just as easily be offended,

I think we’re in for some even stranger times atm.

Whether it’s a nefarious plan to polarise the population and let them scrap between themselves I don’t know...I know the most vehemently anti Tory people who voted for them (some in tears supposedly) because of Brexit are now supporting them in stuff like this.

Very fucking weird.

Some of it is deeply worrying - the power they’re giving themselves in primary and secondary legislation in particular.

Agreed.

It’s never been very British to revere the flag in the same way in the same way as the Americans do, and it’s worrying that someone can’t make a harmless quip without the right wing media getting outraged about it and a presenter being forced to apologise. Union flags are for flying outside public buildings, for sporting occasions, national celebrations and for when the government is representing the country abroad. Bringing it into daily use to show how patriotic they are is just wrong.

Brings to mind the quote “When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross.” Our government seem to falling over themselves to wrap themselves in the flag. Thankfully they haven’t turned into religious nuts yet with the possible exception of Mogg.

I don't tend to get drawn into all this drama but it's an odd time.
Perhaps we're all losing it due to lockdown (and though not planned, it's been an interesting social experiment).

I feel like I'm starting to fall out with people over either anti-mask/vaxx stances or stuff like this which is flaring up.
Someone posted a Jonathan Pie video earlier and I've never been hugely taken with those, but it's summed it up.

I've honestly had a very good friend raging over this (but quelling that rage quite poorly) on whatsApp...an age old labour supporter suddenly offended (and he's sadly someone who has been brainwashed rather too easily to believe it's normal to use those phrases such as snowflake and woke) by the video I posted....and then it snowballed.
How's that happened? Brexit was the fuse suppose.
Maybe I'm being over sensitive too but I don't want to fall into the trap the far left and right seem to be...but does that make me an evil 'centrist'...a neo liberal sheeple....will Brexit be ok or will it be an utter shitshow etc etc

I just want to do some good work, bury a few personal demons and start enjoying my life again (and a shag if I'm really honest) but everyone seems ripe to fight each other....not a chance I'm going out the first weekend this is all over.

best time to go on the rob though.......every copper in the land will be attending drunken brawls all evening and all those drunks that went out the pub will have left empty homes for the burglars to visit.

what they have effectively done through the prism of Brexit is turn everything into a test of a persons patriotism. They have positioned themselves in the midst of a group of people who for varied reasons get off on it because it mostly marginalises people who don't look or speak like them so the Tories lean further and further into and it results in a position where if you don't agree 100% with them you are against them, their base, the country and all it stands for and they have been and will continue to take steps to criminalise any dissent - its all more PRC and NK than a free nation thriving and prospering and by the time the majority wake up to this it will be too late.

Lockdown hasn’t helped, people have had even more time to fall down their particular rabbit holes.

Personally, I try to think of the politics second and the behaviours first. I know good and bad people on every side of the political spectrum, the difference with this government is the means it uses to get to its ends. It’s gone way beyond just being disingenuous (well, flat out dishonest), the damage they are doing will last generations if we aren’t careful - not just to society, but our fundamental structure of parliament and the rule of law.

Didn’t take long....I’m sure it was Charlie who made a joke about the size of one’s flag and that was all it was...

She was piled into by Guido Fawkes and his followers on Twitter some pretty disgusting stuff ...........If you want to know why they piled into her and not Charlie Stayt the answer begins with R and ends with M.

I see the papers were full of £3bn promised for a bus revolution. In February last year it was £5bn...

If someone could explain to me why the British Taxpayer is funding privatised bus companies to develop routes whose closure was caused by the privatisation of bus companies I'd be much obliged.

Tories cause a problem

Listen to the noise created by the problem

Throw a load of money at the problem to solve it (usually to their mates)

Claim the praise for solving the problem they created in the first place.

Rinse and Repeat

And your shared cultural values are what? Innate?
They are sharing their own manufactured cultural values.

Sorted. :)

This reverence of the flag smacks of Fascist symbolism.

Their is a brilliant book about flags BTW called "Worth dying for" by Tim Marshall of "Prisoners of Geography" fame. If anyone is interested in the symbolism of national flags it is well worth a read.

As mentioned above it was an off the cuff, light remark....and look where it has ended up.
Another wedge hammered into the population.

Wonder where some stand on Union Flag masks....that probably creates a glitch in the matrix.

Could do with 'stopping the world I want to get off' at the moment...

We’re definitely losing our natural self deprecating sense of humour as a side effect of all this bollocks!
