Erling Haaland

That IS true. But Real Madrid are always, Always a draw for top forwards, specially young ones.

While i do think it is a bit agent games and hopeful punts by their media, particularly as Mbappe is more their end gsme supposedly, i just wouldn't dismiss it off hand.

Neither would I rule out a persistent Chelsea if they throw everything at it, and continue this resurgent form to finish in the top4 and go far in the CL.

We have clear advantages and draws, and dare i say it, this is probably the first time (since hazard probably) that when it comes to a real top player everyone is after, that i feel the stars are just a bit aligned for us to sign him. If ever that feeling could be explained, this is it for me.

Lets hope that does translate into a real advantage.

As I say for me we’re clear favorites. I’m generally someone who doesn’t get invested in particular targets. We’ve always had a fluid approach to targets. But I also know when City are serious and when we are we rarely lose out.

Im tempted to stay out of this thread for the rest of the season I’m that confident. Haha.

Good to hear.

I think we have strengthened our squad immaculately over the last 4-5 years, not many failures and it’s getting to the stage where it’s very difficult to improve it without going for top drawer players such as Haaland.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we ‘only’ make two signings this summer - Haaland and a Grealish or similar type signing, with maybe one surprise outgoing for decent money.

I’d be excited at the thought of what Haaland could achieve in this team, and what City could achieve with almost guaranteed goals ala Sergio in his prime.

Then Chelsea win CL. Hazard all over again lol

Chelsea winning CL in itself wasnt the motivator. It was the fact that they didn't have CL the following season via the league, and winning it hot them in, tgat changed it. I'm assuming they will finish in the top4 this year, as much as i really would like to see west ham make it, Chelsea seem the most likely.

Hazard has always seemed a bit of a diva, especially with his laziness in training grounds and defensive contributions on the pitch. He just wanted UCL football and preferred London over Manchester. Haaland seems like a born winner, someone who thrives in the difficult moments, doing whatever he can to win trophies. He contributes immensely in pressing also, something which I didn't actually expect.

Even if they win UCL and it's between us and Chelsea, I'd say he's coming to us.

I thought both these ‘Spanish giants’ were on the bones of their arses?

yet are supposedly in the running to complete the biggest transfer in several years

if one of them pulls it off I expect UEFA will be asking serious questions ... or maybe not

There are similarities with the Hazard transfer back in 2012: Chelsea are still in the CL and in the FA cup, which they won in 2012 as well. But there are important differences, notably that the whole landscape of English football has changed. City had just won the title in 2012 but we were still in the days of a bored Sheikh who might "walk away" leaving the rags and Chelsea to enjoy a rebirth of the duopoly of the previous years. Now we can see clearly City have been the dominant club of the decade and since Pep's arrival that dominance appears to have turned into a complete stranglehold. And back in 2012 City could not compete in a bidding war with Chelsea thanks to the advent of FFP with which City were trying to comply: in 2020 CAS banished, I believe for good, any UEFA designs on nobbling the club on the pitch and off it. And since 2012 we have had a whole generation or two of the very highest profile players who have mad a career and life for themselves in Manchester and shown no desire to leave for the bright lights of London or anywhere else.

As a destination for a talented young player, aiming to be the best in the world and a future ballon d'or winner, it seems to me that Manchester City has numerous advantages that give it the edge over any other club, especially when the lad has a history of supporting City and his dad of playing for it!

With the HG Factor, I see Raz staying. Hopefully his form improves.

Can see someone like mahrez leaving along side Aguero.

Mahrez has been in great form and hopefully ends the season on his best form for us. Always, felt he never felt at home - think now that Qatar and Abu Dhabi relations have been restored - can see him going to PSG

Sterling and Mahrez for Mbappe? Deal ;)

Let them have Messi and we also sign Haaland and Grealish?

Didn't realise Abu Dhabi and Qatar were on such friendly terms again!

I'm calling it now. This summer's "It's Quiet" will be the biggest ever. For the first time in a long time City are going to be in and around some unbelievable talent IMO.

You should charge @Ric for the updates ;)

It's all about the timing, mate...

I'm still in the foreplay planning, setting the scene, a musical décolleté, a few candles.

Build up my strokes, pump up the volume, rip the back doors from it, before the San Antonio morning chill VIP zone.

If Ric wants a stonking It's Quiet thread, I can do that too!
