Covid and travel discussion

Tomorrows papers reporting July 1st the earliest for foreign holidays, also anyone trying to get away or travelling to airport £5,000 fine.

I don't know why they are reporting that as it's quite common knowledge about the announcement on the 12th April with a provisional restart slated from 17th May.

I'm not saying 1st July isn't a feasible resumption date, and have suggested earlier today that it could well be the date going on tour operators Ts and Cs at the moment, but the media know no more than me or you and speculation rolled out nationally like this is highly unnecessary for an already decimated industry.

The ramifications of stuff like this, or a Government minister saying not to book anything, is massive for us.

No chance 17th May,also not confident beginning July.

I also don't think there is much chance for 17th May, but that is beside the point.

That is the provisional restart date set out in the roadmap, with the announcement due on 12th April when hopefully more, good or bad, is revealed.

Papers running with their gossip shite doesn't help an industry already on it's knees.

I agree with you but information is leaked and it's front page news in 3 papers in the morning.

Tomorrows papers have spoken to everybody in Govt around the world and they will accept tourists from the UK? Thought not. The CRG/NRG alliance haven't got the leverage the R/W hoped for so the press have to be drawn in to add fantasy bollocks and apply pressure. Johnson can say they can go but they have to isolate at £1750 per person per week per hotel when they come back and piss on their chips anyway. He wouldn't be blocking it he would just be applying terms on their return.......

Sky reporting Boris looking to ban holiday abroad until October under the Coronarvirus Act.

If someone had said last year that going on holiday was to be made illegal noone would have believed you.
The language and aggression from the government is appalling on a lot of the pandemic issues and its rather disturbing that they are rushing through legislation without debate on a lot of subjects.
Disgraceful.

I'm sure there's method behind the madness.

I've already got posts on Facebook people boycotting holidaying in UK. They'd rather stay at home than holiday in their own country.

I agree with the other poster though. I foresee mass upheaval this time round. Not good.

Total joke.
The vaccinations were meant to be a passport to freedom and look at the situation, no better than 2020.
Exactly..its going to proper kick off, this will cause untold damage to people's mental health..

And I really cant blame them..

It seems in many ways the vaccines arent the passport to freedom as promised when they rolled em out.

my nannas old peoples home only let you stand in a car park and talk to her through an inch gap in a window with a member of staff present ensuring she doesn't dare poke her fingers through the gap for a bit of contact

all residents have had 2 jabs but when asked when normal visits can start the staff reply “no time soon”. So whats the point in vaccinating if they are still going to be locked away? Doesnt the vacs protect them from the virus.

its all starting to stink a bit now.

give people the power to make rules and they will make them with a gusto
