His wife died a few years ago and she and her husband had brought up over 90 foster kids but still managed to get to watch City.The owner of Timpsons, Sir John, is a big Blue who employs a lot of ex cons to help in their rehabilitation, it's a good company to work for, staff are not allowed to work on their birthday amongst other conditions. I heard him on Desert Island Discs a few years ago, really good listen if you have half an hour to spare, it's the truncated version with only about 30 seconds of each disc, that's a bonus because his music choice was a bit shit!!

I don't suppose the programme mentioned the family name being used in that old Manchester expression 'getting a bit of Timpsons'.
