The wage Haaland camp have pitched at is £350k a week.

Well within our means.
Hey TH...are you as confident as you can be that he is our main target...I presume we do have a plan B as you just never know.
Also were you hinting at Messi staying at Barca the other night after the Kun announcement?
From what you seem to be saying our main targets are:
Haaland
Mendes - possible loan back for a year?
Grelish
Messi - still the cherry on top? - however with Haaland (if we get him) how does he fit in?

The 600k a week stories have to be bullshit.
If we pay 600k a week when he signs then what would we do 2-3 years down the line if he’s banging goals in for fun and wants an improved contract?
Wouldn’t make sense.
I could however see him reaching them wages in the future if he reaches the superstar heights of Messi/Ronaldo.
Which he well could, certainly looks the real deal, but you never know.
For me wages was always going to be the hard part of this deal.
“If” we signed him and made him the top earner straight away, not only would it upset Kev and Raz, but the rest of the squad too.
If he becomes the top earner over x amount of years through performances, then players would except it much more easily in my opinion.

Very confident in the information.

Without betraying a confidence, a retired, old timer colleague of mine remains a friend to Alf Inge to this day.

Let's put it this way, I'm as sure as can be that he remains our primary target.

I've been banging the Grealish drum since last summer, only because I know Pep and Txiki can't get enough of the lad and they were all raving again about him after the game the other month at the Etihad.

There is a reason KDB has name checked him and, again, he would be a magnificent long-term acquisition.

cheers as always

Im really suprised about Pep and Txixi being a fan of Grealish...he just doesnt seem that good and certainly no better than what we have...but who am I to argue with those two.

what are your thoughts on the messi situation?

Forget the notion of £600k a week FFS. It was the back page flyer from a London based journo at the Sun.

They even covered their arses by insisting Haaland was demanding it rather than City offering it.

They knew the latter would result in City going after them.

KDB has a parity clause in his contract, does anyone seriously believe we are going to pay Haaland £600k a week and then match it up?

Anyhow, the seed has been planted, the urban myth, propagated.

Haaland is greedy, £600k a week is the only reason he would join City and turn down proper clubs.

It is always done to deligitimise any success we have on or off the field.

Which is why we should spend the fucking house on Haaland, Messi, Grealish and Mendes.

FC Fuck the lot of 'em!

Realistically, how attainable is Haaland this summer? Is Dortmund not making CL factored in?

You are entitled to your view, but he is an outstanding talent and entering his prime years.

He is strong as an ox, skilful, amazing energy and desire.

If you don't think he seems that good then I can't convince you otherwise.

KDB and Gundo are entering their 30s this summer, Fern is a goner, while Sterling needs a reality check.

He can play wide on either flank and also central midfield.

For me, he's absolutely a statement signing.

He's hungry and that is what we need to progress in the next cycle.

Sorry mate, these questions are impossible for anyone outside of the negotiators to say with any certainty.

I'm a bottom feeder, within earshot of jungle drums, but nobody should mistake me for anyone relevant.

The only thing I'm worried about is a repeat of last summer but instead Dortmund's CEO isn't willing to negotiate. Hopefully they don't get UCL.

The thing that makes Vincent ,David, and Sergio legends is they stood by the club for many years, and were clearly brilliant too.
Frankly, whether you earn 200k a week or 300k a week you need a moral compass. How much can you spend ? You buy into City for the project or someone else for money, like Sanchez. If Erling goes to United after what they did to his father,I truthfully would have zero repsect for him as a man.

Agree the first bit is total garbage and can’t be seen as anything other than such.

The spending the house comment is interesting as it isn’t really a stretch under normal circumstances, Messi we know is covered by clauses in commercial contracts that most people believe to exist.

Mendes will not be expensive in today market coming from a cash strapped club.

Harlaand is a large outlay, but we haven’t had to splash out on midfield, wide players and won’t be strengthening the defence (apart from mendes which is a speculative punt) IF we decided to take advantage of the current market.

Wages wise, we have really trimmed back the last couple of years, and this year will lower further with Sergio off the team sheet.

I’d say it’s looking more like astute spending rather than splashing out myself.

Now grealish as well WOULD be splashing out and showing off which I’m not against at all, it would also answer the ‘who’s rodri when rodri isn’t there - well it’s Gundo obviously !

Sit back and enjoy - a little bird whispering in my ear tells me as a fan I will be extremely happy with this summers work.

These are all personal opinions and in no way reflect any inside knowledge or contacts - I’m just positive about this coming window in a way I haven’t been for a number of years

Hahaha, highest wages ever - what complete hogwash. Hahaha.

why is it ? one best strikers in the world and you think madrid barca PSG would not offer the same
city have to match any sort of offer or we simply miss out on haaland even if he is a city fan its down to wages

Khaldoon should release a statement ruling Bayern out of the race for Mo Salah in response. It’d make as much sense.

Is Bayern in the race for Mo Salah? I somehow doubt that. Bayern has 3 of the best wingers aged 25. There is a need for a no. 4 when Costa's loan runs out - but Salah is not the category they will be looking it. That is a spot for a promising youngster, talent or in Covid times a loan.
