Erling Haaland

If Pep is right and we cannot afford Haaland and one would assume therefore Mbappe or Kane, then I cannot understand why we have not just renewed Agueros contract for another season. An easy option especially in this current econmic climate. The man is now getting back to fitness will guarantee goals. We will not get by without a No.9 forever. I hope Pep is wrong otherwise I feel we're being short-sighted IMO.
Maybe because :

City including Pep and Board feel that Aguero has a poor injury record

His salary

Characteristics Pep needs in a striker

Maybe Aguero didn't want to extend with a lesser salary, he feels he can sign more than a 1 year extension or having a new challenge to motivate himself for the last years of his career, he is not old 32 is noghing when you have a good fitness.

Maybe City want to free some wages in order to sign another player

Like every team City is also concerned by the pandemic the revenues will be lesser it doesn't rain money

If we don’t go for haakand because of the price. Which also means no felix no Kane etc then there is no point in even discussing all these supposedly top tier footballers who very rarely go on the market . Ok we don’t know as much as pep and the board about transfers but are not always gonna be able to unearth the next messi of Ronaldo and sometimes you have to spend big to bring in the star players to get you to the next level . As for rumours about grealish and his potential transfer of £80-£100 million not a chance will we pay anywhere near that and we will be lucky to break our own transfer record of £63 million on anyone we bring in .

The club needs to live within its means. If we can’t spend £100 million on a player then we buy a player we can afford.

It’s not can’t mate it’s won’t spend that money . Next season will be a very difficult season to win as most probably one of our rivals will have haaland upfront so we will need to make sure we get our recruitment spot on this summer . I think we will buy a striker and most probably it will be one of daka ings thuram silva or Nunez from benfica but if we don’t then we make a massive mistake just like the Kompany one last year

@Zin 'messiah' Zimmer, did Alfie take that little visit alone, then?
Mino would of been merely smooshing with the latest tour, he certainly wasn’t a guest with Alfie, nor would you expect such..

People need to realise this isn’t a relationship Mino will be use too, Alfie’s experience alone as an ex pro is to our advantage, however, as much as people are discounting fat man’s worth, he brokers deals of this magnitude, and is bloody good at it, why wouldn’t a father want the best?

Snake, parasite, cockroach, there’s a 1000 names but he will deliver the best package, which irks clubs no end!

Then extend Aguero's contract for another year or two until it can afford to sign top tier striker.

The club brought this on to themselves by announcing his departure now.
But again why? I love what Kun has done for us, but for one you will need to pay him a decent salary. On top of that we cannot guarantee he will be playing as many games as he wants. If you look at this season, Pep already prefers to go with the false 9 instead of Kun. It wouldn't be fair to him to continue this pattern into next season as well.

Sighn Danny Ings and give Delap a chance. Much more likely than Haaland.

I think we will sign Gealish and Ings and that will be it.

no disrespect to Tolm who is a funny and good poster but we have had all these it’s quiet threads and crazy videos for years and it mostly has been.

Danny fucking Ings are you fucking kidding.

You actually think we’ll buy/spunk the budget on any of them? Give over, Paul, fecking thuram? Just throwing names into the melting pot now, you should give the recruiters a little more credit ffs

Just go after whoever Man U are in for regardless of whether they fit into Pep's system.

Oh hang on... strike that, reverse it! ;-)

I don’t agree. The rumblings around Sergio have been going on for a while now and the international break was a good time to clear up the situation. We now have clarification as to why pep was not selecting him when fit. Big clubs make big decisions. Whether it is the right decision only time will tell. For what it’s worth I did not what Sergio to leave as I think he is still a fantastic player but we have got to trust the club. They see him everyday and if they wanted him he would of signed a new deal.

We shop in and arrive the 60-70 million for players. So unless Dortmund accept a fee similar with add on and sancho fee we are in business. Until uefa deem it ok for us to spend we can’t splurge IMO.

I don't know who we'll get in tbe summer but my guess is that we land a striker we've played against once in the champions league who none of us give a fuck about and after 6 months we're losing our mind about how he's shit and doesnt fit the system and then BANG... he's fucking awesome.

within FFP it’s absolutely a can’t. Unless we sell that is ( Mendy and Laporte maybe ). Outside of 1 pep rebuild season out net spend hasn’t been more than 100m since 2011.

With recently floated comments of salary caps, transfer caps, and the possibility that football TV revenues have peaked for a while, it is unimaginable to me that ANY club is thinking of paying £100Ms in fees and wages for ANY player today.

Haaland, like every player, is one tackle away from ending his career. If anyone knows that, it is that family! Accordingly, he’s going to leverage Mino to get the best, most lucrative deal possible.

However, any team even THINKING about £100M+ in transfer fees, plus £15M/yr in wages, is having a laugh...or very willing to undermine the dressing room!

That last one will not be allowed to happen at City, under Pep. It is far too valuable for a player whose MARGINAL impact on the team might be 10-15 goals over a season.

The other question I have, having only seen highlight reels of him banging in goals, is does he cover the ground needed when pressing? If not, then is he ever going to be what Pep wants up front?

Pep’s City thrives on rhythm and movement, of ball and players, into and through the space created by that movement. It’s a delicate balance that CANNOT be based around the game of one player.

May we live in interesting times...
