This group of players (give or take) had the mental strength to win 14 on the spin two years ago with a brilliant Liverpool breathing down our necks as the spring progressed.

The notion that we’re going to surrender a fourteen point lead from here, or eleven assuming united win their game in hand, with seven games to go, is absurd.

People may point to 2012, but once united had drawn one and lost one in the run-in, our destiny was in our own hands. For this to fall into united’s hands with three games to go, we would need to lose our next four games, even if they win their game in hand, given the goal difference differential.

And those that point to ‘typical City’ conveniently forget Charlton, Bradford, Gillingham and Blackburn where we conspicuously delivered the goods when it mattered.

This isn’t arrogance, or being ‘raggy‘ - it’s the application of experience and logic. A team managed by Pep Guardiola will not lose this title from here.
That 14 game winning run to fend off the dippers was nothing short of amazing. The pressure was immense in every game because we knew they wouldnt drop points either.

i screamed that loud when komps scored v leicester that i went properly dizzy

What's the point of guessing whether 74, 77 or 84 pts will win the league?

It's about probabilities. 74 pts guarantee the title at about say 40-50 %, 77 pts at 60-70 %, 81 pts at 95 %...There's a very very low probability that 84 pts will be needed but this scenario is extremely unlikely.

We are likely to win 85 pts anyway, no point in guessing how many will suffice, especially in a strange season like this. If some folks are worried, let them be worried.

I’ve said it previously, as an achievement in team sport, it is unsurpassed.

I think there is an argument to say that being the beneficiary of something like the Aguero moment can lead to a small, maybe even tiny fear of being on the receiving end of it. The fact remains that for them to be "chasing" us means they have to be reducing the gap and they aren't really. No harm in being sensible but I wouldnt be losing sleep at this point either.

I am 99.9 percent confident we will do it. Just don’t agree with the comments the rags will only get 74 etc and it is done now.

just think we will need 80 or 82 and have done for several weeks having studied the fixtures.

Who ever thinks the title isn’t over is clueless.

Imagine seeing how good we are and how shit the rest are. Why is anyone even worried haha. Just enjoy the ride ‘typical City’ is a thing of the past
I don’t think anyone’s worried. The thread is literally about how many points will win the league, it’s not about whether we’ll win the league or not. I think there’s been some confusion there by some, the league is not won until it’s mathematically won and people are just having guesses about how many points that will be and when it could happen.

So some will look at United’s fixtures and think “they’ll draw here and lose there and we’ll win it against Villa”, but that has nothing to do with worrying that we won’t win it or thinking United still have a chance.

(By the way, Typical City will never leave us. Being 25 points above Liverpool and 27 points above Spurs and playing the team 8th in the French league but losing to them all in the CL is Typical City!)

I hope the Rags win every game during the run in to be honest, this will keep us keen, fully focused and honest on all fronts. If we win the league too early it could backfire with resting players and potential of losing momentum, that's my humble opinion anyway
It’s a fair opinion too. The thing with City of today is we are ultra-professional across all departments of the club. We will go out to win every game from now to the end of the season and there’s a decent chance that that’s what we’ll end up doing.

More like typical Pep that... ;)

Fair play to those still nervous but this is done, to the point where I wasn't really arsed about the result on Saturday as long as he picked a team with Dortmund in mind.

We need 11 points to secure it but looking at the remaining fixtures it's very unlikely we'll even need that:

City:
Leeds (H)
Aston Villa (A)
Crystal Palace (A)
Chelsea (H)
Newcastle (A)
Brighton (A)
Everton (H)

United:
Spurs (A)
Burnley (H)
Leeds (A)
Liverpool (H)
Aston Villa (A)
Leicester (H)
Fulham (H)
Wolves (A)

I think Burnley is the only game United will win comfortably.

i am not in a cave for 3 weeks or suicidal. I am 99.9 percent certain we will win it and when we do I will celebrate. I am
Not going to have a party today am I?

United are looking at 17 points maximum from those games. 2 more wins for us and it's done, is my humble opinion.

As an achievement in team sport is say Leicester winning the league at odds of 5000/1 having narrowly avoided relegation the previous season surpasses it
Your point is not without merit, but I disagree. Leicester’s success, as incredible as it was, was rooted in the failings of others, whereas that unprecedented run of victories, at the business end of the season, against so many top teams, was in spite, and maybe partly because of, the brilliance of another.
