Some GPs are reporting that many people who ignored invitations for vaccines early in the roll out are now booking for jabs. They have seen the success of the vaccine programme. I saw this on the news this morning and thought it was useful to balance fears that people might be put off going to be vaccinated.

Back to half a million doses again on the 7th after the Easter holiday, sounds good news. Still a decent number for 1st doses too.

Everyone does it slightly differently.

The gold standard for comparison between countries is "excess deaths" - the number above those you would expect at the time of year.

That measure requires very careful analysis for true comparisons. Generally, whilst different, it gives similar trends tob the published figures.

In the first wave, UK was pretty much the highest excess deaths in the entire world - here's a definitive study in a top journal.


Second wave, I expect we would be more middle of the pack.

Yes, take-up of the vaccine has been far higher than many predicted. I don't know anyone who's turned it down.
