Covid and travel discussion

I'm afraid this isn't true.

My Sister-in-Law had her jab last week. She's 42. Went on the NHS website and stated that she was a carer for her Father. She isn't. She doesn't even live within 40 miles of her parents.

Still got the jab.
Stories like this show people up for who they really are and I hope every time she’s moans about something or someone you can throw that back in her face.

I can see why this sticks in the throat of most people but I thought that you could just apply for the jab regardless, without having to justify, rightly or wrongly. From one perspective at least, it's one more done and one less in the queue. I take it her father has been vaccinated in the meanwhile.

Fortunately, the Father-in-Law was done a while back.

You can apply for the jab on the NHS website but if you put in your correct date of birth and you're not in the age range currently invited for a jab then you can't get it.

Unless (as in this case) you lie about being a carer for someone.

Right...I'm pretty sure I know of a few then who must have ' jumped the queue' and weren't legible then.

We usually go to Rhodes May & October. Weather is great but can get a bit nippy at night I just stay in shorts but Mrs Moon will cover up in the evening. That side of the Island is quite breezy. We stay about a mile down the coast from here... https://www.skylinewebcams.com/en/webcam/ellada/naigaio/dodecanisa/rhodes.html

Normally stay at a small hotel in Kremasti (more of a local village, sand not fantastic but still quiet and lovely) half way between the airport & Rhodes Town, 10-12 euros by taxi to the hotel/village. It's pleasant enough to explore the Old Town at that time of year, in the middle of summer it's crazy hot in there.

Take in a trip to Symi & the church while there and have a wander upto Filamos Cross as well.

Cheers mate.

Just shifted the June flights to first week in October, only had to pay the fare difference of 11 quid so all good.

Going for a week now and hoping the cost of tests will have come down by then, and of course that Greece is ok to travel to as no doubt Ryanair will look to operate the flights regardless.

Gonna be an interesting summer again....

I'm out of the loop with the latest. When realistically do people think we can travel now? June?

In theory the restart date for international travel remains 17th May.

In reality that could be too soon, and we don't find out which country will fall under which traffic light until 'early May'.

So much can change so quickly but I think June or possibly July is more realistic than end of May but it all remains to be seen.

How many people will actually want to travel abroad given the current prohibitive costs involved for PCR testing also remains to be seen.

Most of Europe to stay amber when traffic light travel begins says expert..Gibraltar, Malta, Portugal, Israel and Morocco plus a few long hauls to be green..

ive booked for November but sadly i think its over for 21 with these new variants, without them yes its doable but whats around the corner we just have no idea. the virus is just as likely to die out and go as much as a new strain will be found that the vaccine wont touch, sadly i think the later of the two is the more likely, 2022 maybe 23 IMO

The travel industry will collapse if they write this year off surely.

oh definatly it will, how can Ryanair and Easyjet sustain this any longer and the general economics of this country, the Fed reserve could stop proping the dollar up at any moment and then bang, wall St would be small fish on comparison
