Borussia Dortmund (A) - CL QF | Post-Match Thread

For all the people flapping about weekend rotations in a meaningless league game, this is EXACTLY why we needed to do that.
Correct mate. We got visibly stronger and they got visibly more tired as the second half went on. And pep didn’t need to disrupt our dominance with subs because key players were tiring.

From the BBC....

'It is incredible what we have done'

Manchester City
City boss Pep Guardiola on what he said to goalscorer Phil Foden when he ran over to celebrate: "He found me, he ran everyone and found me. That's for all the club, all the people that work so hard, to achieve what we have achieved so far.
"I said 'well done, good shot, we go'.
"We need three wins to win the PL, we are in the semi-finals of the Champions League, we are in semi-finals of the FA Cup and the final of Carabao Cup. It is incredible what we have done.
"We don't talk about winning all four. Now we take one game at a time."

What's incredible is that after the opening goal the only time Dortmund even got close was that header from a long range set piece. Our level of control against a top quality counter attacking side was really something.

Zinchenko is fast becoming an using hero in the team, solid, a threat going forward and reads the game well, a couple of key interceptions tonight
Could have cost us 2 goals in the first 20 min

Arm is also very clearly out of line from his body and changes the path of the ball, could have dropped to Bernardo for a tap in otherwise. Penalty all day long.
Just been on red cafe and most don't think it should of been a pen but someone just posted the rule, the one that Walton doesn't know.

So if you guys don't know the rule, it STILL is a handball if the ball touches the hand after hitting the head if the player makes his body unnaturally bigger. It's what happened here. That's why rule 12 says "Except for the above offences, it is not an offence if the ball touches a player’s hand/arm: directly from the player’s own head or body (including the foot)

Mighty performance tonight, for me. I don't think we were too shabby in the opening 15-20, but the response was fantastic. We could've crumbled, and on many occasions in the past we have.

Magic stuff!

After they scored Stones and Dias marshalled Haaland superbly. They didn't give him a sniff
