Simple Question: Do you trust our owner?

Do you trust our owner?

How about because it’s more lucrative, stops us potentially being left behind and breaks UEFA’s corrupt stranglehold on European football.

All this wailing and crying by fans before any real details have been revealed is ridiculous. As things stand we might possibly have a few more euro games than we would’ve had in the expanded CL. Nothing else is set to change, we are still fully committed to fulfilling the domestic program.

While I agree with all the positives, all the positives are outweighed by the fact every other English club is left behind as the founders are guaranteed being in the superleague. It just destroys the domestic competition. If there is no hope of joining the elite all other teams will wither and die.

My dream when the sheikh bought City was that maybe finally I would see us win the FA Cup and the League not that we would be admitted to a euro super league i.e the CL.
If I were an Everton or Newcastle fan dreaming of recapturing past glories, this latest tweak to the European system doesn’t kill those dreams. Picture the scene - Newcastle have to win their last home league game to clinch their first title in aeons, do you really think a hysterical St James Pk will be any less hysterical because a win wouldn’t qualify them for the super league ? Nobody will give a fuck.

Yes I do.
They have run this club perfectly (pretty much) from day one and have always done right by us.
They obviously feel this is the best/only option for us.
Time will tell if that's correct.

except the only way to compete with the top six is a a massive cash injection.
That is unlikely in the current set but does happen (look at us and Leicester)
If there is no way into the elite then there is no way for an investor to recoup the money. Therefore its even more unlikely (I would argue its so unlikely as to not happen) that any club outside the top six will will get the cash injection needed, so your scene of Newcastle will not happen.

I trust him to protect his investment.

I trust him to act in his own best interest.

Do those interests coincide with mine?

Some of the threads today are bordering on ridiculous, plenty of people wanting to stick the boot into the club and all too ready to end decades of love.

City are an institution, they are separate from any individual.

Same people weirdly who also support players over their clubs.

We would be out of business if it wasn't for our owner and the stewardship of Khaldoon.

How can anybody trust anyone capable of such a morally corrupt decision?

Moral Courage is all about taking a tough but correct decision in the face of temptation to do something else that is easier or will self-serve.

For all that has gone before, it is now clear that those who make the decisions at Manchester City FC are failing in moral courage and subsequently their failure to do the right thing, has FOREVER brought shame on our club and embarrassment on our fans.

Whatever happens from here, we are forever tarnished. We had no need to involve ourselves in this mess but a lack of foresight due to being blinded by greed has in this one instant eradicated this club's credibility not only to its fans but also the wider sporting world.

I feel sick to the core and frankly I hope those involved in creating this public relations catastrophe rot in hell.

I think people are finally, fully realising the club simply doesn't care about them. It's sinking in. Can you blame them?

think people are pissed off and rightly so.
I still don't think this will happen and sense will prevail however.

Well said. They've turned on it in a matter of seconds.

I've had a post that said 'yes I'm backing my club' changed to 'yes I'm backing Mansours franchise'. I have to wonder if that poster was going mental like the rest of us on 93:20 - all funded by said Sheikh Mansour.

When has a football club ever cared about its supporters, genuinely?

They have always been businesses, throughout the ages.

It's not a mutual contract, you get zero promises as a supporter.

The club care enough, to the extent they want to see it successful, which is generally what the average supporter craves.

This... it’s a tough one... teams like Everton and Villa have been shafted but many of them in time might prefer to be in the SL longer term than left behind in a sub par PL. there’s no winners in this.

Disagree, the club is it's supporters with out them a club is empty, no identity.

Modern football is alienating the match going fan, very sad, the matchday fan should always come before the tv fans, always.

Not interested in the players, they come and go, they are hugely rewarded, most of them don't give a toss about the shirt, but in the last 10 years we have been incredibly lucky to have a few players, from all parts of the world, who do care, do get this club.

Football without it's true fans is devoid of emotion as we have seen during the covid crisis, without emotion, football is nothing.

We watched a pathetic spectacle on Saturday, a once proud competition, now reduced to a training game, in which both teams seeded aggrieved to even be taking part.

Maybe the impersonal way City have regularly booted people out of their seats to accommodate UEFA or the corporate tiger should have given us all a clue. I’m not mad at City - I think this just confirms that I love the club but the club isn’t and never has been run for mine or any fans benefit. I’ve had a season ticket for 30 plus years but that buys me nothing other than the opportunity to attend games - anyone who thinks otherwise was always going to be disappointed at some point.

Sorry mate but the club care for you in the same way that Asda care about you as a customer.

Forums are full of reactionary one-eyed people, mate. Always have been and always will be. Plenty of fans don’t want this to happen but from what I can see the sensible ones understand that City are between a rock and a hard place here.

Its definitely a double sided coin for City and the top brass will know this. On the plus side it cements the club into the “elite” forever and ensures a return on Mansour’s investment. On the flip side it evens up the transfer market for our competitors.

Theres a lot to play out here yet.
