#16 | Rodri - 2020/21 Performances

Rodri had an excellent game today, and if you think otherwise you're just looking for reasons to lash out after a defeat.

He made 3 massive tackles in our box to prevent dangerous shots (or worse), he was carrying the ball into Chelsea's box more than he ever has done before, he was a threat at set pieces and when we did exert extended pressure it was usually because he won the ball back and often rode 2 or 3 challenges but managed to keep the ball alive and get it to a teammate.

First quarter of game too slow, by-passed too often. Did improve though.

When Pep picked two holding midfield players it was a worrying sign , he changed his tactics to soak up any Chelski pressure and came undone , Pep overthinking again ? No matter what the personnel why dont we just play to our strengths and let the opposition worry about us.

Seemed to me lately that he needs a rest. Unfortunately, he's probably not going to get it in this tail-end of the season. He's too vital to our midfield.

About 10 minutes in and he was making tired passes. We know he has iron boots but looked even slower and just didn't look fit, was practically on his knees after about an hour. Kante was strolling through his space without even a hint of a challenge

Looks unfit and heavy at one point I’m sure he was running backwards

Kante, Mount and Jorginho bossed the midfield and were too mobile until Phil and Ilkey came on

He did ok,made some excellent interceptions and challenges,but his lack of athleticism is very limiting.

I'm not convinced he's the one.

By-passed because there was too much space around him. That is the fault of the midfield unit, not one individual. When the unit tightened they all looked better.
