Your post is bang on about how The Red Filth have got away with this sort of play down the years, especially under Ferguson. I was reminded of when I attended a game against Norwich at OT in 1993 when my United supporting brother-in-law had a spare ticket.

This was the season after The Red Filth had won their first Premiership and when Norwich were making waves with their great, open football revolving around Jeremy Goss and (dare I say it!) Gary Megson in midfield, with Ruel Fox and Chris Sutton up front. The previous year they'd finished 3rd behind United and when they went to OT that day they were still close to the top with games in hand. And this was also the season they beat Bayern Munich in the UEFA Cup. They were a good side under Mike Walker, very pleasing to watch.

They really took the game to United and just after half-time Fox scored a penalty to make it 2-2. United were really struggling to keep them out, even at times to get the ball back off Norwich.

My brother-in-law and I were sitting in the front rows of what was the first cantilever stand built there, towards the Stretford End. After about 15 minutes of the second half, with it becoming increasingly obvious that Norwich were most likely to win the game, there was a short stoppage due to an injury. Ferguson called Cantona over to the touchline for a word. Cantona then quickly went around every United player transmitting instructions before play restarted. I said to my brother-in-law 'I think United are rattled.. this will be interesting!'

What followed was the worst 20 minutes of 'football' I've ever seen, with every (and I mean every) United player taking out at least one opponent wherever the ball went. Harshest treatment was reserved repeatedly for Fox, with Goss not far behind. Gary Megson was trampled on in one challenge by Brian McClair. Chris Sutton approached the referee at one point to complain about the stuff The Red Filth were meting out but, as ever, got short shrift from the referee. They just kicked Norwich out of their stride and as a result got a point, avoiding a damaging defeat to a rival at the top of the table. And the only player booked that day was Norwich's keeper, for time-wasting if I remember correctly!

Many on here will have seen the video of United doing the same, calculated thing to Arsenal in that infamous game when Mike Riley bent over for them as referee. The Norwich game, in my view, was just as bad. A few weeks later, just after Christmas, Walker went to Everton and Norwich lost their way in the title race.

Of course, that lot across town have never been called out for their use of sly thuggery down the years, with the press/media continuously eulogising the 'United Way'. Whereas when you compare it to the media coverage of City nowadays, that Fernandinho and his pals at City with their 'systematic tactical fouling' ought to be taken out to the nearest gibbet and strung up.. it's the only language they understand..
They did it to SWP, blatant and it took about an hour before the ref was embarrassed into giving a card. If I remember rightly even the Norwegian troll was at it.

Very good at bullying referees to go with it, the incident above was a totally disgrace, the pisscan should have been hammered for what his players did that day, they brought shame on the rags and football, yet nothing was done.

People who live in glass houses should not throw stones!

If and only if they win out they'll have exceeded Jose's 81 point haul in 17/18 with a worse squad. At this point they can't get to his 25 win count. Spinning their wheels despite constant expensive signings.

You love to see it.

Interesting input from a poster on SadCafe this morning. On the possible availability of Kane this summer he posted ‘He would slow our attack down. The United Way is fast, muscular, inter-changing front line/attacks.’

There you have it ‘the United way’.....what he meant to write is ‘I’m not sure he would be suited to our hoof it and chase down style.’

Fast, muscular, interchanging.’ For cocks sake.

Maybe he purchased word of the day toilet paper.

We have rattled the rags for over 10 years. They have spent most of that time trying to influence football using the premier league, refs, var, government, uefa and the cartel. It has got them the square root of fuck all.

Buy more show ponies with your leveraged debt to the yanks. Close only by your proximity to Manchester. Fuck off back to Trafford with your second place trophy. Might aswell have finished 17th in the league but I guess being the first loser is an accomplishment.

They won another trophy this season.

i been saying to all the utd fans after the protest and wanting glazers out careful what you wish for ?
believe me it can get a lot worst very quickly. now you pissed of the premier league officials and uefa officials
maybe they will stop all the free turning a blind eye and soft pens and free kicks from VAR

once the advantage goes from the officials and all this bollocks we are united tag ? it could drop and sink like a stone if the officials play ball next season. we all know how united are 2nd this season and liverpool champions last season
because of the joker card they used with the officials. united are a top 6 teams without help from the officials even lower than arsenal and spurs with a poor defence

Just saw the Shaw handball, can anyone explain why it was not a penalty? Absolute stonewall to me.

Completely discredits VAR when shít like this happens, the only reason I can see is that everyone involved with VAR in this match was clearly cheating in open view on behalf of united, zero other reasons not to give.
Just before the handball he had pushed the Leeds player in the back, as did Arnold the day before (twice actually but not given) in his match against Newcastle.

Arnold has a real problem with this pushing nonsense, he literally does it all the time.

Excellent post. Absolutely correct!

Thry did it to Wright-Phillips at the Etihad once n’all. Darren Fletcher must have taken him out four times. Not once was he booked.

And this was the worst of the lot...

The laugh of it is they are on the best away run since 1794 when records began. They have VAR and Pigmol backing them with penalties given and rejected. They have the Balloon Door winner (yet to be officially announced but..) Silly Sally and the rest of the bbc and yet.....

They are still miles behind us. Ha fucking Ha.

Not forgetting BM, they beat Southampton
9-0 with the aid of some dodgy as fcuk officiating it must be said, Southampton having a player wrongly sent off after the ref had wrongly awarded the rags their usual penalty, enabling them to top up their goal difference in some style..

They scored the winner at wet spam after, "l'm a winner, that's what I do", the football genius that is Gollum said, "the punt up field by the rag defender was that far out of play it went over my head, I wouldn't mind so much but I was fkin sat in the dugout at the time"

They were given a penalty at Brighton after everyone else had fucked off home.

Their forward line of Saint Marcus of Rasher, Whatsisname, the Welsh Diver, 74 year old Cavani (can't beat experience) and Greentree are envied throughout Europe,.. players money just can't buy.. Priceless..!! (sorry, useless)..

And to think, whilst all this shit was going on, we on the other hand have got on with playing the bulk of the season with no centre forward and packing our team with 5'6" giants, tippy tappying the ball around game after game ..

Not only are they fkin miles behind us, we've also managed to outscore the fuckers by some considerable margin yet again.!

Nowadays the rags would be down to 7 players - when Reyes died in that car crash Mike Riley flew in to book his corpse for diving.....
