Is that 1 test 72 hours befor you go,1 test 72 hours before return and 1 when you get back....Even at half price three pcp tests for two would be circa £360 and god help the family of four. I cannot for the life of me see how a three test rule will encourage holidaymakers back as it's just cost prohibitive. And what happens 72 hours before you travel home if you test positive and who will pay the quarantine costs.
Greece are biting at the bit to get our trade and Malta are giving away free hotel nights like there's no tomorrow, but the fact of the matter remains that the fiscal will have an overriding effect on holidays booked. Covid passports my arse and this will not help the tourism industry one bit.
It was booked way back before all the mither started through sailing holidays as a package and we've moved dates from last August to next but the Mrs doesn't want to go now for various reasons, uncertainty,restrictions,extra cost, lock down belly (don't tell her I said that) etc.Yeah I really do sympathise with people who either amended from last summer to this summer or booked something ages ago for travel this summer. Little did we know how disruptive summer 2021 was going to be.
You got the opportunity to amend it to a later date? That might be about the best outcome you can hope for, depending on how/who it was booked with.
I've got flights to Palermo this July with BA; booked them during a Black Friday promo back in November (was gonna treat my Dad to a short break away). Hindsight is a beautiful thing but I'd never have booked them if I'd known we'd still be like this.
Hoping BA cancel them but if they don't then I can get a voucher for the full value (and they were quite cheap anyway) so it's all good.
Sadly 3 nights in Italy would be a false economy given all the testing costs!

So as I understand it you will need to take a test edited .. within 72 hours before you travel home. Then when you arrive back home from a green country you will need a pcp test after a few days. If it's an amber country then one test 72 hours before travel home and then two tests back home staggered 2 and 8 days apart. When I came back from Turkey the cost of the test over there was equivalent of £25So as I understand it you will need to take a test no later than 72 hours before you travel home. Then when you arrive back home from a green country you will need a pcp test after a few days. If it's an amber country then one test 72 hours before travel home and then two tests back home staggered 2 and 8 days apart. Also on an amber jollies you will have to isolate for 10 days unless you opt into the test to release scheme they are running.
Dependent on what country you are traveling to some will also require a test on entry (see fcdo web site for country entry requirements). Up to press you do not have to have a vaccine shot to travel. I forgot you also need a passenger locator form filling out 48 before travel which is not a problem and are easy enough to complete. For countries that require a pcp test before departure you could effectively have to take 4 tests for an amber level or three for a green.
Imagine the cost implication for a family of four and could have serious knock on implications for the travel industry. We have decided we will not be paying for 3 or 4 tests whether lateral or pcp owing to cost restraint. I am happy to pay for one test at a sensible price of £60 a person.
