Paris Saint-Germain (H) - CL SF | Post-Match Thread

I’ve always been indifferent about the Champions League but I can see how much it means to this group of players. It’s forged them into an unstoppable force. Their desire to win it makes me want them to go on and reach this. This is seen by their peers as the pinnacle of their trade. Immensely proud of them tonight.

Three thoughts:

Marquinhos did not deserve to be on the losing side.

THe margins in these games are so tight.

ANd tonight, is owed to guys like Hart, and Zabaleta, Kompany etc. Gaz Baz. All of the players who were bricks in the wall.
He played well looks a top defender but he plays for psg so deserved to lose as we have been the far better team over the two legs.as for the likes of zabba, vinny ,hart legends and building blocks to our sucess but tonight is about this this team because they are just that team in every sense of the word.a band of brothers diaz, stones, walker zinny ,phil, kev ,gundo ,kdb ,bernardo an absolute joys to watch we deserve this final as we have been so consinstent for a good few seasons cmmon city do us proud in istanbul ctid!

Thought he was terrible. Gave them free kicks every time they shrieked like girls. Gave them a pen for a non handball, same on foden a few mins later and they should have finished the game with 7/8 players. One of the worst referring performances weve had and we’ve had some plum’s over the years.

in the end it didn't matter luckily
Fair enough all entitled to our opinion but I can't say I agree with any of that. I mentioned the two handballs, two wrong calls but they are things you can get wrong in a game, they're understandable mistakes, refs can't be perfect and that's what var is there for when it's in the box.

We committed a lot of fouls in fairness, barely any given weren't fouls and as I said previously, he let a lot go for both sides when he would have been entitled to blow up.

The potential extra reds was good game awareness in my eyes. He could have sent them off and then psg get even more wound up and it flairs up resulting in an injury or a red card for retaliation for one of our players. We always say how refs don't understand the game, we'll he knew like the players did the game was over he just had to get through it with as little fuss as possible and felt he did that very well. I think his refereeing made sure we don't have anybody come off the pitch injured or suspended for the final.

Plus if he really did tell herrera to fuck off then I demand he gets Dias' MOtM award.

'People believe it is easy to arrive in the final'

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola: "It is for all of us and the club. I'm incredibly proud and my first thoughts are with the players who didn't play today. They all deserved to play, everyone has made a contribution and now it is time to enjoy it. We have to win the league and we have two or three weeks to prepare for the final.
"They put a lot of players in the middle and we struggled a lot in the first half to high press and we changed at half-time. We recovered the ball better in the second half and we were much better in the way we played and 4-1 on aggregate against a team that beat Barcelona and Bayern Munich means a lot to us.
"They win the league every year, they are a team built to win, they fought to the end. They a huge team but we were so composed. We fought together and we're in the final of the Champions League and those are nice words. People believe it’s easy to arrive in the final of the Champions League. Getting to the final now makes sense of what we have done in the past four or five years. Every day these guys have been consistent and this is remarkable. We scored a goal through the hips in the first game, and today Marquinhos hit the bar in the first half - you can be out for little details.
"United won a title because of John Terry's slip and in the last minute against Bayern Munich and Real won a title against Atletico in the 93rd minute. It’s a competition that is so difficult and something in the stars is involved in that."

Brings a ton of extra money in to buy additional quality players and, attracts those players. . The best players don’t want to go to the losers!

Your primary thought is Marquinhos didn’t deserve to be on the losing side.

That’s really weird.

what a team, what a month, so proud of the club even after the last couple of weeks. nice to be able to relax now for a couple of weeks, freshen up and go all out guns blazing. All played well...understatement
